Apologies if your screen looks pixelated. I used special software to eliminate camera shake. It may be worse!
Jerry and Linda take the golf cart just about everywhere but sometimes it's just not practical. Come as long as they attempt to go to a hardware store in the golf cart. It wasn't possible, but they discuss the options and give you a nice driving tour along the way

Love the hardware store trip...and as for the dermatologist I too have battled skin cancer from head to toes since 2004 ..it is now nov 3 2021..I have had the nitrogen burn off...chemo creams and checkups every 3 months..being abreast cancer survivor since Oct 1986..and losing my parents to colon and lung cancer 2005 and 2008.it is important to have those skin checks..

Nice ride. Brownwood has some nice shopping but when we visited our favorite was Lake Sumter Landing. We found it much easier to get around by car when we were visiting and used the golf cart to go back and forth to the pool mostly.

After spending some rental time in The Villages during busy season and off season over the past 2 years it is becoming apparent at least to me... as TV grows, using a golf cart is becoming less desirable. When I make the move permanent , I feel the optimal vehicle to drive in TV would be a Mazda MX-5 convertible.

That isn't true for us. Without the golfcart lifestyle there would be many other places to live that would be appealing. Golf carts are fun, efficient, and practical.

I know it may be a long way away but there is an Ace Hardware on 466 that is golf cart accessible and up on 441 as well. But depending on where you live and what you’re picking up you may be better off just taking your car.

I enjoy your love of the villages and the hard work you put in week after week providing information to all of us. I have been vacationing in the villages since 2003. Each time, we rent a different type of home in a different village. We have made many friends and have visited them at their homes. So, here is the thing. You keep telling people everyone in the villages live on postage stamp size lots, you are not allowed to build fences, and poor Gizmo has nowhere to roam. This is not the case in all homes. Some have large yards, a good portion are fenced in (verandas, courtyard villas, and patio villas) and there are many dog parks throughout the villages. Your style of home is just one of many options in the villages. I am sorry if this sounds petty but if you are going to give out information you should be careful not to mislead people. I have met several newcomers who had watched your clips, trusted what you said, then realized AFTER they purchased a home they felt misled. Had they known there were other options, they would have looked at those as well. So, enjoy what you do, keep bringing your enthusiasm and wonderful spirit , but remember, there are people who look to you to get accurate information.
@JERRYANDLINDA

So here is the thing. We have put out over 400 videos. We covered all the things you mentioned. We don't repeat them every time. Like we always say, dont rely on us for important matters. Check for yourself. No one has ever told me they were misled... wonder why they told you?
@margaretmattason-tw9cc

I should have just kept to my lane on this one. This past month we happened to rent a cottage villa with a substantial fenced-in backyard. Before we left, we hosted a last get-together. Several of the guests were shocked that large fenced-in yards were an available option. Your KZbin happened to come up in the conversation. No bad words were exchanged. As you have gathered, I have not seen all 400 of your videos and most likely the guests had not either. As you say, it is up to the individuals to look around the entire village before purchasing. As I said, I should have kept to my lane on this one! I really do enjoy your videos.

Just being picky when you say "you can't get there from here". Love your videos. Love the Villages. Been here 20 years a snow bird. Might be informative to tell viewers it is wiser to have two cars and one golf cart instead of two golf carts and one car. We found that because of the size of the Villages we found the second car more va!ueable than the second golf cart. Couples can golf separately because the other couple will also have a cart. Prior to Covid of course.

Look at 12:36 on this video, right before you get to the woodworking shop. You just cruised right through that stop sign! 🤪 I’m sure you looked both ways and you were perfectly safe. I don't understand the fascination with golf carts. They're slow, loud, hot and offer no protection especially if something bigger and heavier hits you. Why not just a small car? I have a condo on the beach in Florida and someone said I should get one. I said why? I have a Mercedes sports car. It's small, fast, and air conditioned. The top goes into the trunk and makes it convertible if I want to be hot and get my hair blown. And I have some car around me with a high safety rating. It also gets great gas milage. I've been looking at getting a house there and I don't want a golf cart but I'm afraid I wouldn't be accepted without one. Also they are rented here on the beach and everyone hates getting behind the little slow moving things.

I really like that electric golf cart. Good to know. I bet you’re thinking about changing over now aren’t you? At least trading out one of them. There was a bad golf cart vs motor vehicle accident last week in The Villages wherein the driver of the golf cart was killed. So sad. You’re a delicate flower, Jerry. I’d be on the waiting list for the wood shop as well. Now that I’m retired, I want to take a wood working class so I can make frames for stained glass and my sketches. Don’t know if I will, but I’d like to. Love the tricked out carts. Linda, you’re wearing a blinged-out sun visor. Love it. Love sparkle and bling. If there no traffic anywhere near you, and if he wasn’t filming, you’re never know he didn’t come to a full stop. Besides, the idea is to not pull in front of other cars. If there’s no cars, a full stop is not necessary. It just wears out your brakes.

Hi Linda & Jerry, We love the Videos. They are so informative. Do you prefer the gas cart? I'm assuming speed is a big factor. The electric is slower but quieter? Just curious. Thanks! Jenn
@JERRYANDLINDA
@JERRYANDLINDA 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, we do. Some people complain of the smell we have not noticed that. They are definitely noisier and you need to add gas every 250 miles or so. They are simple machines however and upkeep is easy. The electric are even easier but every 4 or 5 years you are out big bucks for new batteries. They can both go as fast as you need them. The quietness of electric is very appealing however.

I worked at St Lukes for Dr Ireland and right over there people would go faster than the cars and scare me! We had to recheck a lot of cataract implants aka IOLS to make sure they were in place from crashes. Cracks me up how fast they would go.

Me too! I'm not as nimble as I used to be! Ginny, for some reason that electric cart had quite a bumpy ride. When I ran the files through a stabilizing program on the computer it gave it that wavy look. I did not like it either.

Question: After using both an electric and gas golf cart do you have a preference ?
@JERRYANDLINDA
@JERRYANDLINDA 4 жыл бұрын
We prefer gas for the reasons listed below. The electric is sure appealing because of the quietness, but we like the range of the gas carts.
@JERRYANDLINDA

Thank you Victoria! Yes, we have driven other electric carts. We like them, but we travel a lot by golf cart and like the extended range of gas carts. In each town square there is a villages golf car dealer that has gas pumps in the dealership. There are also gas stations that are accessible by golf cart as well.

Interesting trip. The Villages seems so spread out. A 300 person waiting list! Even in a smaller development, it can be challenging to reserve tables for events. I once stayed most of night, sitting in my car, in front of clubhouse to get a Christmas Party table, first come first serve. As for reporting neighbors for infractions, it does workout to simply discuss the problem. Since you have fair skin coloring, you should both probably invest in a much larger hat. There is a lot of skin cancer in this climate. Gizmo is so accommodating.
