I played Wangjuntr Highlands course with the Hosenscheissers and it was initially fun until I realized it was a bit of a joke course. Slope rating 153 and stroke rating 77.

It's 7650 yards long and the elevation drops are crazy and the blind approaches to every green raised between 5 and 30 yards above the tee started growing tiresome.
This Wangjuntr Highland course was a bucket list course. I am happy to have scratched it off the list and more than likely won't return except for the actual proper Tour quality course near the club house.
Of course with a course so far in the sticks, the maintenance is not as good as you would like with fairway grass being quite long and the greens being in moderately okay shape.
The course is like the ones you see on the old Tiger Woods PGA Tour video games when your skill level has maxed out. Unfortunately my skill level was not maxed out and the fitness skill was very far behind as I struggled to even finish the last 3 or 4 holes due to walking so far and on such steep slopes between the cart and the balls as the buggies are only allowed on tracks.
Nice challenge and some fun moments with Didi, Petr and co.

Matt, loved this vid. Keep them coming, as watching golf videos may be as close as I get to playing this season, as I broke my ankle last weekend. From what I have been told, the best case would be, 4-6 weeks before I can start rehab and then another 4-6 weeks of rehab. Here's hoping the Orthopaedic evaluation, next week, states I do not need surgery, or my time off could be much longer!

Your final thoughts on this vid will travel with me for a very long time. The negativity I carry with me in life transitions into my game everytime. But I've only become aware of it since I've become part of the playa life. My acceptance of this issue is just the first step. Changing my mindset will be a long, long road but I know it can b done because I can see it when I relax, clear my mind and just swing the club. It goes for miles. There r many things we cannot change in life, but what we can do is change the mindset on how we fell about it. Happy thoughts bring pure shots. Great vid. Keep then coming

We played a course in mid-Wales that was all uphill for the first 9holes and if you sliced even a bit on the first 4-6 holes it's 'Hello' to our two friends Oscar Bravo. Also it often pissed it down . I still loved playing golf though (mostly). Some tired looking shots here. We've all been there but The Baus has been there less. Great upload. Again. "The Hosenscheissers" .. WaddanAustrianinfluence.. so ghert sichs! ("that's the way it should be" in Austrian). Awesome course as well and i love that you're all in team-outfit. I managed to break 100 yesterday (99) on a course I've never played before. This has never happened to me. Normally I need to play at least two or three rounds before I get a better understanding of the course. I did plant a few feathers, and while i didn't make a birdie, i did manage to get some really nice pars thanks to leaving my ego aside, and using your advice on club selection.. my flight-partner at first looked strangely at me when i took out my pitching wedge, after he hit his hybrid far.. only that he was left with a difficult second shot, while i had another easy pitching wedge to get within 3 meter of the hole. Later in the club-house we talked a bit more about course and club-management and following the way of the playa. I told him to binge watch your videos ;)

There is a course near my hometown in Indiana called "Purgatory". Aptly named. It plays 7,754 yards from the tips. 78.1 rating and 142 slope. It is the longest non-mountain course in the world with over 125 bunkers. I have never played from the tips, but this video has motivated me to do so next time I visit. I think the 666 method will be perfect for a course named Purgatory!

What a wild course. You are not kidding about the mind. My last round I had negative thoughts and it turned into what I was thinking after I hit the shot. Too many times I'll think I have the ball teed too high and instead of stepping back and lowering it, I think it will be ok. But, in my mind I have that nagging thought of it that its wrong. Then the shot goes bad. I need to talk to myself with positive swing thoughts. Thanks.

Hey Matt, my rule of thumb on hitting to large elevation changes: Green 10 yards below me, play 10 yards shorter distance.... 20 yards below me, 20 yards shorter, etc. Same idea for uphill. That's for ball FLIGHT. Uphill, you'll need to plan to "carry" it all the way since you won't get much run.

@GolfSidekick
@GolfSidekick 5 жыл бұрын
Yes of course, this is the main point to be committed 100% and that will make you swing the club properly. I have toruble with the driver but have recently worked it out and played a dream round with it last week. I'm getting closer. I just need to commit and swing smooth with a nice balance and it will go. It's a weird thing that I have as much trouble with the driver as I do

Short chip and fell down the slope is no fun lol A quick update on my progress after we played together. I'm swinging faster now because that's actually my "easy swing". Inspired after observing your play Committed faster swing brings me nearer to the green. Wow. That course is nuts. On another note, contest idea “Win a round with Didi”...I think you’d have a lot of takers.😂

If you like the Chrome Softs, might I recommend the Vice ball. It's nice to only have to pay $25/dozen for an equivalent ball :). I'd recommend the Vice Pro rather than the Soft as I feel it's closer to the performance and feel of the Chrome Soft. :)

I will get some Vice golf balls soon. I found a place in Bangkok that has them and will give it a go playa. I have used the Inesis Tour 900 which are super as well! I am now moving away from Chrome Soft purely to check what else is out there so I've given Snell, Inesis, Taylormade, Srixon and everyone a chance. It's all the same to me nowadays actually!

That looks like some kind of course - It has a higher slope rating than Pebble Beach had for this year's PGA championship. To shoot below 90, even for a really good playa like yourself, is quite an accomplishment!
@GolfSidekick
@GolfSidekick 5 жыл бұрын
Pebble has faster greens and nicer fairways that's for sure. This place was a bit of a cabbage patch and putting on slow greens is a nightmare for me! Pebble might have quite a bit more wind too!

That's some tough sledding right there brother. Wow. I have dealt with some courses along these lines and don't go back. Courses seem to forget who is going to be playing on them; Average golfers. You have to be some sort of glutton for punishment to be at a member at a place like that.
@GolfSidekick
@GolfSidekick 5 жыл бұрын
I was totally in for the punishment but discovered I was not a big fan of it! I won't be back for that course, but they have a nice one called the Valley course I think which is a Tour quality or able to host PGA events so I will try it one day

Great wisdom/video as always. Love the mental stuff at end. I just finished Zen Golf and it has a section called "Fire Your Evil Caddy" - the part of you that is always negative and bashing the way you're playing.

We can convince ourselves we are truly useless in a matter of seconds even though the previous 15 holes have been the best of our lives. We need to stay out of negative town more often and turn down positive boulevard

Well done Playa! Hard looking course. How do you like the new z585 irons?
@GolfSidekick
@GolfSidekick 5 жыл бұрын
I like them - but I am getting used to how to strike them and the distances they go!
@dmax169
@dmax169 5 жыл бұрын
Golf Sidekick that was what I found too, I was having trouble with a pitching wedge that went 140m and a 9 iron that went 155m as it left big gaps at the bottom end of my bag but in terms of quality and strike these things are amazing. I ended up having to take my back anyhow for early onset of rust and then when they were replaced I got the 785s instead. Whilst the distances are better on the 785s for me being more back inline with what I’m used to, they definitely aren’t as easy to hit so I guess it’s a bit of a trade off but all in all they’re great irons. I probably should have gone a mix with the 4-6 iron in the 585 and then 7-per in 785s
