I went to Myanmar to meet some subscribers and played Pun Hlaing links golf course, also known as Star City in Yangon, Myanmar. Great greens, but of course super slow because of the monsoon season. I love the layout with the bunkering and short design, yet very tricky to just kill you if you make an error.
Check them out on Facebook and give them a like for me: / punhlainglinks

I met the Hype man ( who is an awesome playa full of energy and you'll understand why he's the Hype Man soon enough) - absolute legend. I also played with Vedant, who is such an accurate iron playa and suscriber to the channel.
I abandoned the philosophies in this video because I was so tired from not enough sleep. Now this is a stupid excuse because you can't keep doing the same thing over and over in order to sabotage yourself....just to give yourself an excuse for playing poorly.
I think I self-sabotage a lot of the time. I not only never sleep enough, but will often spend too long in front of the computer working, knowing I'll develop knots in my back, shoulders and chest. This is yet another excuse. I am often in pain from these knots and the time has come to start treating myself properly to play better and be more stress free.
Stress free golf starts with preparation before the round. It just doesn't matter what plan, what purpose or what startegy you use. If you're tired or undernourished or underhydrated, that stuff all goes out the window if you cannot hold concentration and a stable mood and mindset.
Be stress-free, PREPARE yourself in every aspect before the round,

To me, the 7,000 yard courses are kid's courses. Not grammar school kids but 40 years and younger. They are designed for the thrill of hitting it far and even when I was a young man I did not like them. You had to carry too many hazards and they were everywhere. The worst I played was Dubsdread in Illinois. It had over 120 sand traps and was 7,500 yards from the blacks and had a slope rating of 156. I shot 104 and felt I did very well and never wanted to play it again. Oh, it was $20 then and is $150 now. I'm about 70 years old and my course is 5,000 yards but it is narrow, jungle lined on both sides and the greens are more difficult than Augusta. 80 is a very good score. It makes you plan and think. The same shot day after day never happens. That's golf to me. The other is exercise like a marathon is exercise.

Thanks for showing a round where you didn't have your A-Game. For me, golf is not about swinging a club. It's reacting to which way I'm messing up that day and trying to minimize the damage.

Love it at 2:08 where you hit that beautiful shot over the bunker and cue the "I'm Sucha Playa" theme music, only to cut as you ball dies on your putt for birdie. Whatta edit! :)

45K? Wow Matty Cakes, excellent! I think the tuba player is tired after this round :) I do like how you show us the (in your eyes not mine) poor rounds and mistakes you make, so we may overcome them when faced with it. I was playing a average 9 hole game the other day, not breaking course records and then just chilled. Ended with par, then bird on the 9th to save the scorecard - there's something to playing without a care in the world, we all just need to do it more! Great video, come to Canada, we'll have real beer (not the U.S. kind) and poutine!

Yeah he made a good point about a lapse in concentration on 1 shot can definitely ruin your hole. I always have a few shots each round where immediately I'm just kicking myself because I know better.

I love that you show the less positive rounds too. It shows you're human. Plus, I bet you feel a lot of pressure when you're playing with fans and subscribers to play a good round, because it probably feels like they all want to see you play a great round. That's got to be tough. Play on, playa. Don't worry about it.

I find I don't sleep well the night before a round because I'm excited to get out. So what I do to combat that is the day before I stay busy all day no lounging around so that when I do go to sleep I'm ready to sleep and not lying around thinking about the round to come. Wayoftheplaya adapting

The tuba was out early and often in this one. :) That course might have only been 5900 yards, but looked like it had a course rating of 76, with a slope of 130. And slow greens on top of that. Slow Greens = Slow Burn. Get more sleep! I expect a playa to be morning fresh when I sit down to my Golf Sidekick vids.

Hey Matt, do you feel any more pressure playing w/ fans / subscribers or is it about the same since you're usually recording the round anyways?
@GolfSidekick
@GolfSidekick 5 жыл бұрын
Nah man waaaaaayyyy more pressure. Headworms start going like crazy. Of course, it is all in my head but that is the most imprtant part of the game. I think my scores have ranged from 72 to 85 with subscribers and it is also quite interesting playing new courses with them where I have no idea about the landing areas and dangers. I cannot imagine the amount of pressure a PGA Tour pro deals with when they have 5000 people watching and then millions on TV. That is some serious head game

when embracing the "way of the playa" one may sometimes find his beliefs to be tested, leading them to question the "way". It is important to realize the "way" will have its ups and downs. And that the downs will just strengthen your appreciation of the ups. One must not abandon the "way" simply because they are having an "off day". Stay on the path, and embrace the "way". and you too may become quite the Playa's yourself.---Sun Tzu
