I played the Firest City Golf Course for the first time. it's in Johor Bahru and it's where I used Way of the Playa almost to it's full potential. Of course, there are still brain farts out there and we need to reduce these to play great golf. This is how to break 80 and shoot 74 like a BAUS.

The place is in mint condition. It's 6,800 yards form the Blues and was my first time at the course so I didn't play the black tees until later. That vlog will come too.
There are some KEY ideas here:
1. Play within yourself and don't smash
2. Putt the ball past the hole a little
3. Hit stress-free shots every single shot.
I enjoyed this round and was very happy with the way the driver worked. I spent 3 days ont he driving range and took 3 days off to let the new feelings settle in. It really worked and I striped the driver.
Pity the greens were so slow and my brain COULD NOT compute that i needed to hit it even harder. That's amateur golf though, we are very rarely ever firing on ALL cylinders.

I noticed how you just come up to the ball and waste no time and just hit it. So relax and stress free. You seem to leave all the thinking behind you before every shot. I am the complete opposite which I know now is my biggest weakness. Too much thinking over the ball. Now I know the way of the playa. Can't wait to go out there again. Thanks playa.

I find the longer you spend over the ball, the more the demons infiltrate your mind. Better to get that ball away from you as soon as possible. Check out Robin Matthews Williams things like the 4 step swing and the no look swing and the walk-in swing. You'll lose all those demons

I've been watching your videos for a while now and today, after playing golf for 15 years, I just shot my first round under 100 ever. Following the way of the player, learning MY game and figuring out how to make the most stress free shot at ever turn has given me a lot more confidence in all aspects of my game. Naturally, as I feel more familiar and comfortable with MY game I have more fun. I've already dropped 4 strokes from my handicap. The most exciting part is this feels like just the beginning, the momentum from a few months of putting in the work is building. Thanks for making these videos! I'm having more fun playing golf AND I'm playing better golf.

Another brilliant video Matt! I just started coaching my high school's varsity golf team here in Maine where I teach, and your videos have helped them tremendously in such a short amount of time. Course management is so easily overlooked by today's youth, they just want to aim at the pin and fire away. You sir are a treasure to the worldwide golf community, keep up the great work! p.s. Every time one of my players hits a nice shot I can't help but fire off a "waddaplaya!!!"

Beautiful course, beautiful round, and it looks like Nicklaus didn’t give into his “make rolling mounds everywhere” obsession, something I have seen on some other courses of his. I have to say that the Way of the Playa has absolutely revolutionized my game. My last four times out are now 3 sub 90 rounds, and sub 45 when I could only play nine holes. Haven’t hit the driver or 3 wood and won’t until I am completely at peace with my other clubs... Some of that is just putting in the work at the range, but putting the work in at the range is a lot easier when you are enjoying playing again. So thank you again. I did buy an old Mizuno TZoid Fli Hi 18 degree hybrid iron and that is working really well for me. ETA: I do hope you make it into NOrth Carolina at some point in the future!

Ever since watching this video 2 years ago I've been wanting to play here and finally got the chance last weekend with borders opening up between Singapore and Malaysia. Playing off the blues it is still a long course (hit a lot of 250 yard drives and left with 200 yards in to part 4s) and much like when you played the greens are still treacle slow!

Thanks Matt. The way of the playa is a big part of my game now. Stress free and shoot low. I don't have anything like your length - I mean who goes 152 with a pitching wedge?! - but I am lethal(ish) with my own wedges now, thanks to you. Knowing what I hit and hitting with confidence, I mean. Now just got to turn those two putts into up and downs. Waddaplaya. Waddatuba. Waddateacha.

How is your 666 any different from going after a score. I stress trying to break 80-90. And I stress if I have 6 holes left and only have 4 up and downs and 1 green in regulation. So what’s the different? Aren’t both stressful situations you put on yourself? Didn’t seem to work for me.
