I really feel the police should have protected that girl from Emery. They knew she was in danger because she could testify against him and simply told her to stop seeing him. They let her down big time.
@Lotr2987

I think I can agree with you there. They really stuffed up big time, the girl should've been granted police protection. Would've saved them all this time from solving her murder and instead putting the other drug supplier in jail. I reckon some witnesses and victims in crimes who at very high risk, should be granted police protection, and depending why, they will go into police protection whether or not they want it. If they protect witnesses and victims from crimes who are now vulnerable, they can get plenty of knowledge and information from these people and also potentially prevent loss of life. I can imagine if maybe me and my girlfriend are witnesses of a horrific crime this guy just committed, and we both fear for our own safety, and we both end up having to go into police protection whether or not we want it.

Why were the officers in the first case surprised by people's unwillingness to talk. They made a young woman wear a wire to avoid charges and she died as a result. I wouldn't want anything to do with their investigation either

I just cannot see the logic after all those hardship of investigating a crime. And convicting a murderer its so easy for them to give the convict a parole. Why dont you just let the convicted serve his/her time if he/she is really proven guilty. I think that's unfair.

9:10 considering that Christina was trying to help law enforcement and told them she was terrified of Tony, they should have put her in witness protection! At the very least, they should have assigned an agent to stay with her 24/7 until the trial (and after if needed). This poor kid did NOT have to lose her life!! No one wanted to talk because the FBI wouldn't provide witness protection!

I’m really impressed by the tenacity of the investigator who got the information that ultimately lead to finding Genie’s body. That he went so far as to interview a man whose sister had once dated Tony (if I’m relearning the association correctly) seems above and beyond what most policemen would do. That being said, she should have been protected by the department and shouldn’t have been in the river in the first place.

The cops treated her just as badly as the criminals did, they just used her arrest charges against her, even after she said that he would work it out, she was not given a choice. They probably told her she’d lose her child if she didn’t help them. It’s just awful that they didn’t protect her. At the least she should have been given somewhere safe to stay, with a cop watching her. They knew what he was capable of - witness protection should have been made available to her and her child.
