How did it feel going back to an inflatable dinghy for a change? In the last two weeks we've towed our Porta Bote 750 miles and it has behaved very well tied up very close to the transom with only about 1.5-2m of painter. Without the outboard and mostly empty we can hardly even feel it back there on the inland waterways we have been traveling on up the US East Coast.
@FreeRangeLiving5 жыл бұрын
Generally the old portabote tows ok as long as there is no following sea! The inflatable was good fun. It obviously went a lot faster than the portabote and I enjoyed falling backwards into the water when we went snorkeling off it.
@svbarryduckworth6285 жыл бұрын
@@FreeRangeLiving we haven't towed in major following seas, but I can imagine the issue. Our biggest problem is when anchoring in current and opposing wind. The bote wants to slid up under our monitor windvane gear at the transom and get stuck under it. We tend to pull the bote up alongside the hull just aft of midships abd secure by a bow painter and a stern line led aft. A little baby fender off the side of the bote run horizonatlly keeps banging down to a minimum. Works better than a fender tied to the sailboat.
@FreeRangeLiving5 жыл бұрын
We do exactly the same thing! She can be a tricksy dinghy unless she's we'll tied up against the side of the boat.
@jbburton59285 жыл бұрын
Oh no poor marool I can see twin hulls on the horizon so much room it must of crossed ya minds don’t blame ya if you did encore
