I jumped on the triple 55" OLED train when this setup was advertised last year by some KZbin channels and although the screens are superb the setup was pain in the a** due to this HDMI / Displayport / adapter fiddling / no gsync / only aorus with 3 HDMI ports problem. I've spent the most time tuning and tweaking instead of racing (bought a way too expensive aorus 3080 to get those 3 HDMI ports, although 1 port is HDMI 2.0 which led to bandwidth limitations and tested almost every dp->HDMI adapter on the market, even those who were advertised to do VRR but did not). When the 4090 was announced and I realized that there will be no more GPU with 3 HDMI ports, I made an even more pain in the a** decision and sold my LG tvs and bought 3 aorus fo48u monitors with Displayports, demounted and remounted everything and finally everything works as it should (triple 4k 120 gsync HDR). Long story short: choose screens with Displayport no matter what

@@designamk1160 😄in fact there was a well known youtuber who stated that there would be an dp -> hdmi adapter he uses and that they would do VRR. shouldn't have relied on his review and I paid the price. And I was hoping for new GPUs with more HDMI ports (instead even the aorus don't have 3 HDMI ports anymore). Shit happens...

I'm dealing with it myself, I just bought 3 42" LG C3 and it's a nightmare getting them to run at 4k 120hz. only game that works flawless is Iracing , but every other game only get 4k60hz. I 2nd that, only get tv with DisplayPort otherwise you're not going to get the benefits. So I think i'm about to send them back and get the 57" ultrawide. I had the 49" for 2 years and wanted the triple experience but it's turning out to be a pain for other games

Having setup a few triple 4K 120hz TV setups......damn I wish I knew about all this sooner. It is absolutely mental when you go above 46inch monitors, the extra work and tinkering you have to do to have the "dream" setup. Especially on ACC as well, it's hard to imagine a game not even allowing a native option to run triple 4K. However lately having discovered SRWE and not having to deal with Nvidia surround has been a godsend, not the most elegant solution, but much more dependable.

I went with a triple 40 inch TV setup, way back in 2014 (see my videos). I then moved to a Samsung 49 inch Super Ultra wide Monitor, which was effectively two 27 inch 1440p monitors side by side. The issue with this was the horizontal height was just too small. I’ve recently moved to a single 55 inch LG C1 Oled tv and couldn’t be happier. Way better picture quality than the vast majority of monitors out there, and with blacks to die for.
@bjornna7767
@bjornna7767 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the height is very very underrated. It can make a triple setup break immersion. Yet, I'm quite happy with 3x 1440p 27 inchers, as I am able to get close enough to them so that immersion is still there. But I'm also thinking about going 32:9 or 21:9 with more inches and then couple it with movement capturing of your head so that you can still look out of the windows if you need to.

I am Running triple 48 LG OLED “PC Monitors”. Sweet spot size in my opinion. I would not go bigger. Monitors are great: DisplayPort/VRR/Gsync. OLED in general is amazing for picture quality. I run the PC monitors at 2560x1440 (not native 4k). But don’t forget that the monitors are native 4k, so the monitors upscale for an effective resolution of 3k - plenty of resolution. Very happy with the setup. I acknowledge two issues. Cost, and needed space. In cost, a rock solid stand is expensive! My stand cost as much as the 80/20 rig. It cost as much as I paid for one of the monitors. But, it is not possible to keep the setup perfect without a stand that allows you to make micro adjustments needed to align the monitors. SimLab and Advanced Sim Racing are two companies that have proper big-screen triple monitor stands with micro adjustments. Installation is not for the faint of heart. From the time I opened the stand boxes to the time I sat down to play a game, it took me over 10 hours (protractor in hand). But with the right stand, once it is set up, you never have to think about it again.

Another problem I have with 55 inch TV is....while on a 32 inch monitor triple setup, the A pillar of most cars does rest conveniently on the bezels between the screens, but on a 55, if you want to sit close and take advantage of the size filling up all your angle of vision, the bezel will appear in weird places, and the change of angle between them does also appear more awkward, so you end up sitting back and return to a viewing angle not really that different from what you see from a 32 inch. If you ask me again a 46 might be a good compromise between usability and bragging rights.

Waiting for 27" 120/144 Hertz qd-oled monitors, before I upgrade my triples. I don't see the sense in going large (55") tv screens for triples, as they need to be 1.2m away from your pov to be able to set them for 180 fov. Where as 27" screens are ideally placed at 60cm imho.

Great video! When I entered the fray with my triple 55" LG C1s from the outside- it seems easy. There is a lot to learn. I'm driving mine with a 3080ti but can't wait to have a 4090 in there. In a nutshell: If going with the LG C1s- find some good DP to HDMI adapters. DO NOT get the Next Level Racing triple stand. The adjustability is non existent and will be a nightmare (as it was for me) if possible- get a slot stand like SimLab. Run 11520x1440 or better Make sure you are running game mode on the LGs and low latency mode. Outside of that- it's worth the cost of entry. Hope this helps others.

The problem is display port to HDMI means you lose out on Gsync , and Gsync is amazing with LG oleds so long as the game doesn't drop under 85fps I'd really recommend if a person is going for triple screen and they really want to get best value from the screens that they make sure they buy screens with a display port. But I agree I think even for a single 4K tv to really get the most IE 4k with mid settings in games and always hitting 100Fps then a 4090 is really going to be needed.

Once set up if you only use triple and have the space and still don't want to feel as if you are actually sat in a car / playing a game then triple is great. VR is the only way to feel like you are literally sat in a car , unless you have a car cockpit / full car body with huge projector screens in front of you. Triple can be a bit random on some games as well , single wide screen is purity much only thing that works with just about everything no issues.

I have a wall mounted articulating keyboard arm setup I can fold out of the way, so I'm able to roll my TR160 (which is sat next to it) in front of the screen. The rig also has its own 43"on a big Ergotron articulating wall arm right behind the steering wheel. But I like the idea that if I wanted to play something on the OLED in an Ultrawide resolution, I can do so - which would only be things like Forza most likely, as I use VR for sims where possible.

@GamerMuscleVideos The issue with blinking and bandwidth and most of your issues is tied to running high FPS variable refresh rates. The compromise is to run 60hz, then all of that goes away. I own 2 of your LG C Series 55 inch TVs on my 2 desktop gaming setups. I run into random glitches here and there as well. My sim rig is triple LG 43 inch montors at 60hz @ 1440p. I have no issues, but 60 hz is my compromise for that consistency.
@GamerMuscleVideos
@GamerMuscleVideos Жыл бұрын
Running an Oled at 60hz really misses out on the point of spending the money on a OLED and not using VRR - Gsync Again is really not taking advantage of the mains selling points and costs of the device. The blinking is often also separate to frame rate and video bandwidth. If I were to cap things id aim for 90hz min as that is way more fluid than 60 and obviously much easier to hit than 120. Running screens at 2560x1440 as well is obviously way less bandwidth than 4k and for flight and driving sim use is a better compromise then running lower fps.

It seems like a lot of your tech issues result from using TVs that are game compatible, but missing key technology needed for reliable stable PC gaming. The need for Display Port is critical and it seems like trying to use HDMI has caused you lots of grief. I have no HW/cable issues. It’s been a year, but have you come across any specific dp to hdmi cables that work well with 4k@120hz? I’ve got 3;65” lg c3 oleds, lol. I have actually got them to work a couple time and it was amazing until I rebooted and then I would have to fiddle about again for hours. I wish I had got the three Alienware 55” monitors with dp. Still, with a 4090, i9 149000k, etc It should work if I can just get 3 cables to work properly. I can get two going but the

Hi - can you explain again how you got gsync to work with the LG C1’s? I am thinking of moving to 3 42 or 48 LG’s but want to keep gsync. I don’t mind 1440p on the monitors. I have a 4090. Thanks!!

It's not worth the hassle you have to use Nvidia triple view do some random stuff to get the non HDMI 2.1 port on a GPU that has 3HDMI ports which is like 2 gpus on the market to work with it. Also you don't really need triple screen , be better to get a single nice wide gaming OLED that can do 144hz or more and use sync on that screen. If you are doing triple screen / want best frame timing and as smooth image as possible with C1 20 120hz screen , I got best results just using VSync which gives 8ms input delay and is generally fine for racing games (not fps) given that it gets you totally smooth image. With cards that don't have enough HDMI ports you will need to use 4k 120 hz HDMI to dp cables I don't think any of them can do VRR as the cables have to be active and convert HDMI to DP. Some people say there are HDMI to DP cables that support VRR but when I tried and also looked into it , it was people mistaken , miss labeling and marketing BS. Though it's 2 years on now so there might be pass through chips that can do it now.

That would be perfect if they made curved tvs but most are not at the moment, I think some oleds will be in the future though

I have a question. Sometimes when I get out of my rig, I lose my trips and my view goes to one screen at which point I have to go into the ini file to re set it. When I do this it ask if I want to save the settings and of course I do. Then for days everything is fine and then it happens again. It sucks when I'm about to qualify for a race or enter the grid and it happens. I have to exit iRacing without withdrawing from the race to re set it And then log back in. How can I stop this from happening? Thank you in advance for your time and your youtube chanel.

Hi gmv, My query was. If you had to feel like being in the cackpit in 1:1 feeling of a real life GT3 car like say a 911/R8 gt3, then what size Triple x 3 monitor size would you need? To be able to see through the screens in exact same size of things outside in real life? Thanks

The only thing that makes you feel like you are actually sat in a real car is VR. Sat close to 42" screens should cover most of a person's FOV and get a general 1-1 scale. But yah only VR or being sat in a car cockpit with huge projector screens really captures the actual experience of being sat in a car.

There's no point buying huge screens and then sitting 40 miles away from them. 27 or 32 as close as possible is peak FOV
@GamerMuscleVideos
@GamerMuscleVideos Жыл бұрын
Actually there is a point to having larger screens and being sat further away , the biggest is it allows eyes to converge more naturally which can really help reduce eye strain and is closer to how eyes converge in real life when looking further away as you do in a real car. Things like perception of scale can also be affected by how close a screen is ( even when FOV is set up and the image ostensively looks the same in both cases) Personally I do think a nice wide gaming screen about 30cm behind a wheel base works really well though. Real peek FOV is having a 15" CRT on some books behind wheel on a desk though.

I have display port to hdmi cables does this fix the issue?
@GamerMuscleVideos
@GamerMuscleVideos Жыл бұрын
Display port to HDMI cables cannot do Gsync and will also be more prone to issues at higher frame rates / 4k , and more prone to issues with cable legth. You can also lose colour information when using DP to hdmi cables but they can work alright if you don't want to use Gsync at least.

Then you lose G sync and you also have some sync issues , can take longer for things to alt tab and often hdmi to dp cables can mess up colour depth finally you often also lose the ability to do HDR

Started with Quest 3 and then Bigscreen. Having a go at triples with the Lg 42s this weekend. The problem with VR after I have always had nice monitors is that is still looks 1080p from medium to far. The amount of hours to set them up up properly will probably be similar to VR. Just like VR, I'll be able to get the two games running and forget about the rest.

Well if you think about it a high end Oled TV is only 2 months of electric bill so relitevely speaking they are now very cheap 👍. I do think 4k tvs can actually be quite a cost effective solution especially if just getting one , compared to some game screens and the prices of oleds are dropping quite fast.
