Great job Neil! Almost made me cry since getting rid of my 430, but I needed a bigger tractor, so it didn't last long. I don't know if you use them enough, but they make a zip tie gun that gets them really tight. $20 Harbor Freight. I was clenched when you went for the big log, maybe a bit more weight on the back, but the 755 really handled it! My sister lives across the way and she had a walnut tree blow down and we cut it up. I brought pieces of the trunk about the same size in 10' lengths to my place with my TYM T 264, but I had a 700lb tiller on the back. I hope you get lots of "safe" use with the grapple! Oh I forgot. Loctite makes more products than you can imagine and they all work!
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I knew that that log was going to be overkill but I just couldn't resist it was right there ripe for the picking 😋 I use these tractors all the time and I still get surprised at what they can accomplish given enough time and patience. I'm really looking forward to enjoying it this fall and winter.

You brought a tear to the eye of this crusty, old, black hearted machinist's eye when you chamfered those holes son. I am so proud of you! However, I want you to keep a log of how many times you lacerate your hand on the jagged ty-wrap ends when you reach for the joystick. Kiss the girls for me and love home brother.

Funny you mention the zip ties. I had a whole bit in this video about my pet peeve of leaving sharp zip ties. I cut them off flush and I even have a zip tie cutting tool so as not to leave those razor sharp edges. I can't stand them!!!! Don't worry sir, if you work on my stuff you can reach your hand in with confidence knowing it won't come out looking like a Tomcat took a swipe at you!

Congratulations Neil! That is a perfect set up for wood and brush cleanup. You’re gonna love it. I think I appreciate my grapple more for brush than for wood. The part of wood harvesting that I dislike the most is limbing, dragging and stacking the limbs. Especially when working in a brushy, briar infested forest floor. With my grapple I can make a few passes where the tree is gonna fall to clear the underbrush. That makes limbing a bit more pleasant. Then, I cut the tree into logs and pluck them out with the grapple. Gathering the limbs and piling them is just a couple of quick swipes with the grapple. All of a sudden, the most distasteful part of woodcutting becomes fun… almost! Another brush challenge is the wild roses, buck brush, blackberries and such that grow everyplace that light hits the forest floor. I use to brush hog it. That just makes it mad. It spreads wider and grows back thicker. Having the grapple lets me deal with it at root level… where it acts as if it got a lobotomy… and loses all will to survive. That Artillian grapple is a beast. Your compact 755 is on the lower limit of tractors that can safely handle it. Nonetheless, it looks like you can get a lot done with it. My BX23s is a sub-compact. It can’t handle a grapple that heavy. Land Pride (owned by Kubota) makes a brush grapple that is sized specifically for it. It isn’t as heavy duty as the Artillian but then again, the tractor isn’t as massive either. I suppose it’s like that old saying… ‘different saddles for different horses.” Just one piece of advice… make sure your front tires are full of air… that grapple puts all of the weight on them. I’ve heard that a guy can ruin a low tire in just a single trip… but I’ve chosen to forget where I heard it!!! Again, I’m happy for you and look forward to see you learning about it as you find it’s capabilities and limits!
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
You are certainly right that this tractor is on a smaller side for this grapple. I was really worried about that but I am tickled with the initial testing and findings. I like your methodology for how to go about using it too. We've got a couple projects in mind where we're going to give the grapple a real life test and see how the 'ole girl handles it. I know from running my brother-in-law's 1025 with grapple how handy it can be, but his is a little bit different style and I think this one maybe even more useful. Now I'm headed out to check the air in those front tires because when you know what, I did forget to check them!!! Thanks for the reminder!

Well I know that I have you to keep me in check Jim! I promise not to do anything with feigned interest as I won't take on a product that I don't have a want or need for. Oh yeah! You can get it to work on your 770. I'll be happy to update in several months to see how the old girl is doing! I'll have a feeling. I will wonder how I ever lived without it. Thanks so much for watching KOL!

Wow... you should have a little or maybe a lot more time on your hands with the new toy. So since you upgraded to a grapple are you thinking about maybe a new to you bigger tractor like a 2038R or even bigger? I was also thinking that you might have had all that wood split so it would be drying down for this winter and you could be playing with the new splitter. We still love all your videos so keep them coming. Thank you for everything
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
I should be far along with that pile of wood, but as you can see I'm a little behind yet. I'm hoping to start working up some wood here very soon in the next couple weeks actually.

Do you have rim guard in the tires? good way to add low center of gravity weight.

No, I don't but I sure could use some!

Does the tractor not have an auxillary outlet on the back of it, if so it Makes adding a front grapple easier.
@digdrivediy Жыл бұрын
It does not.
@nathansmall67992 жыл бұрын
I wonder if your tractor has a power beyond kit that is plugged off? Then you could hook into that and have an electric operated valve instead of the diverter, and have all three functions without having to choose between tilt and grapple.
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
You can add a power beyond kit to these tractors. Captain Kleeman did it to his, but for me this seemed like a logical choice as the curl and pinch of the grapple work in conjunction with each other. But I would really like to have that third spool for a rear implement too!
@jeanvaljohn39212 жыл бұрын
Be advised that the grapple may be super human in strength But the loader arms Might very well NOT be. I've seen two or three small tractor videos explaining how loader arms were tweaked out of whack by lifting up a tree root on one side but not the other or Getting a great big log up with very un even weight distribution. ( 8 ft. Of log on one side and 1 ft. On the other side , to buck up rounds ) Very impressive plumbing skills, You would have to help me find which end of the wrench to hold. Good video
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jean! I try to be pretty mindful of not putting an awkward load on the loader arms.

Thanks for the great videos Neil, I've done the skid steer mount and the hydraulic bypass modifications. I'm wondering if you ended up experimenting with removing that orifice in the dump/curl circuit, I saw you put it back in the video. The speed of that has always frustrated me especially when plowing snow
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
I actually left the orifice out. I think it works better.

Enjoy ur trip as a guy that drills a lot of holes in metal I use cobalt drills and on a slower speed (think that's how ur drill broke on hi speed) far from me to tell u how to drill holes it's just the way I do it it works for me but might not be quick enough for u (ps Im no good at sharpening drills) I have a device that mounts next to ur grinder with an adjustable bed to get the angle right ( yeah it's cheating) 😎
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. We had a great time on our camping trip! You're probably right about that drill speed. I had it going a little too fast. I'm always in the act of learning so no worries here. Thanks for watching as always!

Very good video, especially liked the cardboard and routing segment. Would you mind sharing which (mfg/model) diverter valve kit you used
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bob. They sent me the diverter kit for a Mahindra 26L tractor. I only modified two hoses in that kit by cutting off 12" and adding 3/8" male o-ring face fittings. I believe that Artillian may work to develop a kit for the 55 series if there is enough interest.

Did removing that orifice from the hydraulic line help with the speed and function of your bucket curl? I have an 855 and may do the same with mine if it helps.
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
It did help speed it up.
@chrisreibold16342 жыл бұрын
I was wondering if you or any viewers have had to replace a power steering hose on a 755. I tried the dealer but they said only a 10' roll of bulk hose was available. If I'm not mistaken the fittings ( one straight, one elbow) do not come with the ends that are crimped onto the oem hose. Part # m91486 hose. Idk if anyone has tried a place that makes hydraulic hoses?
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
Should be an easy hose to make up at a hydraulic shop. Our local Napa store could make that hose up for you. Maybe you have one around?
@chrisreibold16342 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the reply Neil. To my surprise both steering lines only cost me $9.00 from the local hardware store. This is because the ends on the factory hoses are "repair in the field" type of fittings. They unscrew off of old hose and screw onto new one. You must take the fitting out of the piece that goes over the hose first. Then unscrew off of old hose. Fyi these are reverse threads. Easy to do with a bench vise and a Crecent wrench.

What is the part number for the artillion third function kit you purchased

I'm not sure the part number. If you contact artillian they'll be able to fix you up though.

Curious; is that switch now HOT all the time? Will it be a battery drain?
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
Good question. The switch is open at rest so it won't draw any current until it is pressed to energize the valves. It should be just like anything else. When the switch is in the off position I would think. So no I don't expect any problem with battery draw.

How did you know I needed you to do this video? I have been wondering for a couple years if I could get one of these for my 770? Several of the channels I watch have them. Looks to me like the same setup you are using would work for my 770 as well. Give us a follow-up in a few months. Meanwhile I will try to get enough viewers to work our a deal with Artillian! ;-) My biggest concern is with additional weight how much can I still lift?
@digdrivediy2 жыл бұрын
Oh and answer your question. You can still lift more with the tractor than with your back! :) But I was really worried about that too. To be honest. I'm pleasantly surprised so far so we'll see how it goes. I know that brush won't ever be an issue either way.
@robsmith76812 жыл бұрын
Neil, would that diverter kit be something you could use for a hydraulic third link on the 3 point?

Yes, I absolutely think you could use it in that capacity Rob.
