Or, you have a pixel 8 and get the dreaded green screen followed by the vertical pink line down the right of the screen, which happened to me after 7 months. It's a very common defect which many people have had and replacements have also suffered the same so I'm not risking it. I've returned it to Amazon for a refund and will get the Pixel 9.

I am buying a new phone, I can get the Pixel 8 for £559 and the Pixel 9 for £799, price being significant and valuing camera, feels like I should go for Pixel 8 as they seem very similar.

Is it my imagination or do the display edges of the Google Pixel 9 look a bit thicker than those of the Google Pixel 8?

I've compared the 9 to my 8 at Best Buy: the bezels on the 8 are indeed thinner with the exception of the bottom bezel (which is definitely thicker on the 8 and is a bit of a chin). The 8's edges are also ever-so-slightly tapered whereas the 9's are basically flat, which might contribute to the perceived thinness. The 9's bezels are completely symmetrical, so even if a tad thicker, it's a reasonable trade-off.

The size or thickness difference could be due to the Pixel 9 having a slightly larger battery.

the 48 mp bins down to 12 mp fyi whereas pixel 8 you get 12 not binned

Coming from the 7PXL, the 9PXL does not feel great in the hand. This is the boxiest smartphone I've ever owned and the polished side rails are smudgy, slippy, and sure to dinged up. That said, I pretty much love every other aspect my new 9PXL.
