I'm really excited about this watch since I've been a long-term user of both Android and Fitbit (10+ and 6+ years), but gave up on WearOS about 4 years ago. Here's what I'd be interested in seeing in a review: 1. Real-world battery life and charging. With a battery that maxes out at 24 hours, can I get through a whole day including sleep tracking (assuming no extensive exercise modes)? What's the fastest I can recharge the watch, and can I use my existing qi wireless chargers? 2. Real-world heart rate tracking. I appreciate the emphasis on accuracy from the presentation, but how does it really stack up to other baseline devices? 3. Exercise tracking. I'd love to go on a run without my phone. Does the watch automatically detect when you're exercising and initiate a tracking mode? How accurate is GPS location data when tracking routes? Is there a consistently smooth connection when listening to offline music while exercising (I've been burned by this on older smartwatches)? 4. General software performance and features. Given the older processor (perhaps balanced by the co-processor), how does performance compare to the latest Galaxy Watches? Are there any Pixel phone exclusive features? I have an S22+ so the Galaxy Watch would be my 2nd choice. 5. Durability. The dome screen looks fragile, how easy is it to damage the watch with normal wear and tear? Would you recommend using a case or screen protector?

The elephant in the room for me is the stupid subscription price for access to something that's already built into the watch. This will add an extra $80 annually if paid at once or a $10 monthly subscription. Is this the future of smart watches or just a bad business decision? What do you think?

Hey Ray! Nice to see you there. Looking forward to your full review. Apparently, Fitbit doesn't let you have more than one device in your account (like Garmin does) if the device uses Fitbit Gallery (like all the newer models do). This is a big deterrent for me because I like using a smaller band when I use my Epix 2 for workouts or a regular watch for going out. Do you know if this is something that will change in the future? Right now, if you try to add the Pixel Watch to your Fitbit account it says "Replace" instead of "Add" because I'm a current Fitbit user with an Inspire 3 band activated. @@yanni2737 This is what found on Google vs Apple Pixel: Maximum battery life is approximate and is based on testing using pre-production hardware and software. Charging times are approximate. Use of certain features will decrease battery life. Battery life depends on features enabled, usage, environment and many other factors. Actual battery life may be lower. Apple: All-day battery life is based on the following use: 90 time checks, 90 notifications, 45 minutes of app use, and a 60-minute workout with music playback from Apple Watch via Bluetooth, over the course of 18 hours; Apple Watch Series 8 (GPS) usage includes connection to iPhone via Bluetooth during the entire 18-hour test; Apple Watch Series 8 (GPS + Cellular) usage includes a total of 4 hours of LTE connection and 14 hours of connection to iPhone via Bluetooth over the course of 18 hours. you can tell Google listed that all day battery in general information while Apple actually listed the actual usage from their conducted test. On Apple Watch, the easy cut of using 45 minutes of app will help the Watch get up to 24 hours, and based on actual usage from me and my family, we usually get 1.5 days out of it. But then, what kinda test Google use to achieve that 24 hours use? they dont even say it Im not saying that Pixel is not 24 hours watch. @SwallowingTheRabbitWhole charge it at night? What about sleep tracking which is a big part of this watch ?
@Roomer6452 жыл бұрын
@SwallowingTheRabbitWhole Yeah, charge overnight. Great way to compliment that sleeptracking. Without it the whole purpose of the Health focus is kinda lame.

@@modifidious7171 It's NOT bro. It's been the number 1 complaint for many many users the past 6 years with smartwatches, regardles of brand. That's why even Apple now pushes the Ultra with a 3 day battery watch and Samsung even goes further. The specialty watches from Suunto, Garmin, Huawei and Xiaomi take it even further. So yeah, it's a big deal. Only unemployed people sitting at home watching TV will get by.

@@Roomer645 I didn't expect battery life from this 1st iteration pixel watch to be something groundbreaking (and it isn't!!!). But with this lame charging time, it's a terrible combination ever.

Can you charge the watch using the reverse charging feature from the pixel phone?
@Roomer6452 жыл бұрын
No ofcourse not, that would be too easy. It uses a propietary charging puck.
@TimLongson2 жыл бұрын
Google should bring out a "large" (at least 1/3rd as big again as the base model) version of the same watch and use the extra space for a much bigger battery. A watch which doesn't have AT LEAST 48hrs with an always on display for the time is not useful or desirable. The appearance and the other features of the watch are great, but the battery and tiny screen are a deal breaker, although easily fixed if they produce a large version, same tech, but bigger screen and battery.

can all these electronic devices just straight out just say how much actual storage is available. I hate it when they say 32G storage, when in actuality you only have access to half of that because the device uses the other half.

Galaxy Watch is hard to beat. This one has a bit of funky look to it but sure it will appeal to some. I like my Galaxy Watch 4 classic. Battery lasts probably 2-3 days, fast, works like you wanted a wear os watch to work way back when. That said, glad Google is coming out with a pixel watch and continuing to support the ecosystem.

40mm? So it's a women's watch....I hope Google see's the value in offering two sizes as 40 looks rather small in the wrist of most men. A 42 or even 44mm would be ideal.
@jeremylehner2 жыл бұрын
So they remove third party apps on the fitbits. Release the pixel with bad battery life which only talks to android devices. The sense 2 and Versa 4 talk to Android and IOS and have the same heart rate sensor. Yes you can’t message with Fitbit’s but if you want a smartwatch with phone features it’s either Samsung or Apple they have more options and way better battery life depending on the model you select.
