Peter says he went over 120 layers. On top of that, he and Tim recorded on different places. Tim recorded on Grand Cayman while Peter recorded in the Pacific Northwest U.S, then Peter edited and layered. What a fantastic piece of work!

Peter's "aaahh- aaaahhh" sound like a sirens song that drills right into your head and has such a haunting effect. Very powerful. And at the very end when Tim hits that last very low note, watch the screen and you will notice Tim shaking the screen with his voice. SO AWESOME!!!!

That last note at the end was a growl note, which Tim actually trained Avi in that technique. Yes, Tim can go deeper than Avi.

Tim has a 5 octave range...some say almost 6 so he can sing tenor as well. Peter is an amazing ‘a cappella’ singer. He has at least 120 tracks in this song. It’s just the two of them singing in this...amazing work by Peter. He and Tim have more collaborations including Bridge over Troubled Water, Sound of Silence, Greensleeves, Fire and Rain. He also sings with Home Free as well including Amazing Grace. Peter has a beautiful voice. If you stare at Tim during the last note you will notice the camera shaking. He has blown speakers too. It’s a great rendition. Good reaction!

Home Free does a cover of "Ring of Fire" live on their 3rd appearance of the "Sing Off", which I recommend viewing HIGHLY before you watch their other cover of "Ring of Fire", in which Avi Kaplan joined them. I say that because not many view their first version, which is a shame because you can clearly hear more of Tim's amazing range! I believe he covers 3 octaves in that first version alone. I really hope to see you react to these and to more Home Free! Loved this reaction!

Tim Foust is an amazing bass, who also has a surprising high range. As others have noted, "Mayday" by Home Free is an excellent example of his range. Peter Hollens is an absolute genius at layering voices (and instruments as well). He's done many collaborations with other artists, including Avi Kaplan. Some of my favorites of his are his collabs with Lindsey Stirling where it's hundreds of layers of his voice and her violin. (Game of Thrones, Skyrim, etc.)

@ilesalmo77243 жыл бұрын
He does a growl-voice at the end. It's pretty easy to do even for baritones like myself, but requires practice to do it safely without damaging the vocal-cords. Basically when you clear your throat, you activate for a moment that "growl". If you try to practice this, you have to stop immediately if it starts feeling painful and drink some water, because you are doing it wrong and you could get permanent damage worse than smokers.
