GoPro El Grande Extension Pole Review//My New Favorite Pole!

This review is all about the GoPro El Grande Extension Pole. This is by far my favorite pole and I use it all the time. You will see that the El Grande has replaced my GoPole Reach because the Reach is not working anymore and actually broke while I was making this video. This is the best review on this pole so far. Gave all the info I needed. I ordered it for my RX100, the size seems compatible to the RX100 because other skinny stick looks funny and feels heavy.

I ordered the El Grande and found out - too late to return - that it had no tripod mount. Is there a way to install a tripod mount? The drain holes are there and a hole for the tripod mount.

Scotty one awesome thing that i found that makes this a great production extension is attaching the Karma gimbal to the top with a phone mount at the bottom so you can see your shot and control the gopro without having to stop production and pulling the pole down. An additional bonus is attaching mic with a dead cat on the underside of the pole directly underneath the Karma grip. I agree with you on the fact that the El Grande is very versatile and well designed. Try out this setup and show us how it goes!

Just Got my El Grande. Mine does not extend to its full length. Been Trying it, to twist and unlocks but it only allows the inner thin section to come out, The Thicker section does not come out. Any Idea?

No. No issues with mine. I just always let it dry well. I had a problem with my GoPole after being in water. That’s why I switched to the El Grande.

Does it transfer movement sound to the camera (hero5 black)? My current extension pole is making aweful noises when I move it around, all picked up by the hero5 (even with drilled holes in the frame etc).

Yeah I think it does. Just about anything you attach to the GoPro will transfer noise. However, I do think the noise is slightly less with the El Grande because of the large amount of rubber grip around the handle.

cheers for the reply... I think the Hero5 Black was a big engineering mistake overall, but I drilled larger holes in my frame and that helped a bit atleast.

+Misio Dudek yes. You can attach it with a strap or the handlebar mount. I actually plan on doing a video on this soon.

I don't know if there are different ball joints. You may can find an adapter that fits GoPro accessories that will fit your camera.

Does nobody have any sound issues with this thing or does no one use the GoPro's sound? When I use this thing (unextended) I hear weird underwater, wobble noises. That noise seems to be coming from the extra poles inside the pole. I don't feel like buying that karma grip because I don't use my GoPro for professional use or does anyone think that thing is a must have? Can anybody relate to this?

I would say yes. However, that is just my personal opinion. The Reach worked great for me until I went swimming with it. It was all down hill from there. With the El Grande having the over sized grip, the ball joint, great build quality, and the ability to hold the Karma Grip, it is just a better pole in my view.
