Bought the Hero 3+ Black Edition. I did notice soft focusing on the left side of image/video. Contacted GoPro they suggested a firmware update…Did not change things. Took back to original retailer and they exchanged. Camera performs perfect. Am not really a videographer, more of a still photographer, but I am loving this thing! Great Review.

I would use the Go Pro Hero 3. Compared to the 3+, it is better quality indoors. Unless of course you will clog outdoors. Then you should use the 3+.

Great review, but what about the casing. it's smaller and there are no more bolts, but can it still take as much as the old casing? i dont want the button to just break off only because it now looks more "streamline"!

Great Review. BUT you may want to consider something about the WiFi. It is radio signal that works best in line of sight. It also depends on the strength and distance capabilities of each device The camera may be able to send/receive 600' but you phone probably only has about 150'. Why the difference? I saw that you held the phone differently on each camera. The second was probably in the line of sight thus reducing the signal effectiveness a little. Probably should have had the phone on a tripod with nothing between the phone and GoPro being tested. The difference in the power send/receive of the cameras probably made a difference also. They have to communicate both ways to send data/check packets, etc...

I think this is the best comparison product video I've ever watched. I own a GoPro Hero 3 Black and regardless of the new Black +, what I really want as a GoPro improvement in the near future is a customizable shutter speed (50, 100, 500) and a manual exposure, or at least some presets (-2, +2) will be much helpful than sound quality or wifi range. Thank you for the comparison.

Great review guys! I'm considering whether to purchase the 3 or 3+ within the next 2 weeks and this has really helped. Shame you didn't review its underwater features as I surf and do other water sports, but for my skydiving and caving (and hopefully my take up on snowboarding) the 3+ will be a top draw. You should include the update to the LCD Touch when attached to Hero 3 VS Hero 3+.. There are some very noteworthy differences to UI!

I'm reading a lot that GoPro have made the lens Sharper for more closer subjects and it becomes more blurred the more distant objects are. This is often written about this camera on Amzon and EBay etc. just wondering your thoughts on this.

good review,except for the superview segment.You guys claim less fisheye? I scubadive ,the superview had a major fisheye with the edges becoming very distorted. the images became streched out. Resembling a funhouse . quest ?: Do you guys work for gopro?

I think the most significant improvement lies solely in the glass, besides the massive improvement in sharpness, they have done a lot in controlling flare and that helps the contrast tremendously. Just got my hero3+ and the quality is so good I wouldn't even hesitate to use it along side my DSLR, I'm really excited to get out and shoot with it! The reason the cameras did not work with the hexacopter was because even though the radio for the chopper is 2.4 GHz, it is NOT WiFi and does not adhere to the 802.11 standards that allow multiple radios to take turns and cooperate while on the same channel.

Like the review guys, and agree 100%. Bought the new 3+ two days ago and went on a 1 1/2 hour run the other day. Took video the whole way as well as picture every 10 seconds. When I finished the run still had 2 bars on the gopro. Huge improvement over my 3 which never lasted that long on any of my kayak trips.

the low light setup works only, if your cam is set 60fps and turn down automaticly to 25 or 24 fps. if you are in 24 or 25 fps, the low light button not showing up ( in the go pro app )

The wifi specs they were comparing it to were for the remote. My GoPro hero 3 black edition has pretty much lived up to the specified quality. I have always found that using the app means i have less wifi range, and the lag irritates me so much. And the range that GoPro have specified is in an open field with no interference. This would mean no other signals interupting it, a clear path between the two devices, and full battery life on both devices.

Are you guys certain you didn't mislabel the HERO3 with the HERO3+? The + unit appears to have focus issues, and in your footage, the footage marked 3+ has poorer whites than the 3, which one would not expect.
