Good to know stuff here. One thing I noticed in the driving section... In Time lapse Mode (3:20) - the camera keeps the foreground (the hood of the car) rock steady, which makes the scenery appear just a little more shakey. Conversely - in the Time Warp Mode at 3:45 - the camera keeps the horizon steady, but the car's hood moves around much more than Time Lapse. So it's good to know what you want to remain stable - the subject or the background - and then choose accordingly. Thanks for the demo!

I have got the Hero 9 Black for Christmas. I have no idea how it works and being a very old guy (70) might take me a while! But the bike rides in 4k have been good, just have to get used to the way it operates. This video has explained the Time and Hyper modes well enough for me to go take a try. Cheers buddy. I agree, I think it's awesome you are spending time to learn all of this instead of just throwing your arms up at it. My grandfather is 84 and is in the few that is actually quite great with technology with the occasional need for help with his desktop but uses a cell phone digital camera, ipad etc. I love hearing others in the age category where most dont bother to learn any of this with new technology ❤

Here’s what I think might be a tip: use your smart phone to set up the camera for a shoot. I’ve got 60yo eyes and it’s a lot easier to work the camera with my phone than to see and push those tiny buttons.

@Air Photography Nice tips, thx But for 2:15 : I am realy confused how the Gopro wants to know how long i want to capture and set the right Speed (Speed=Interval in TimeWarp?) So there is a big difference betwen a 10 min laps an a 8 hour laps?? Therefore i do not want to end up with a 10min capture as an 0.5s Video (to short) - or an 8h capture with a 2h Video (to long)

So, I've tried both Time Warp and Time Lapse while driving using my GoPro 9, and ultimately I end up using Time Lapse for two main reasons. (1) The field of view in Time Lapse is wider. It allows me to capture more while driving, and if I need it to be more stabilized, I can use a warp stabilizer in post. I have a really stiff suspension no my car and it still has yet to be an issue. (2) This is really the main reason...the Time Warp has a tendency to shift it's FOV and "lean" left or right to follow the curve on a road. While it's not a big deal to some, it REALLY looks strange to me when coming to a stop after an off-ramp and watch the video slide left or right until it's recentered. The car isn't moving, but the video's frame is. Once seen, it cannot be unseen. Great vids, great channel! Keep up the great content!

Great Video. I used to find both confusing but I believe that best way to distinguish them both is in the use. For Timlapse, I have my camera mounted on a tripod and I take static shots of the moving clouds or sunrise or sunset or the waves or movements but the key is that the Camera is mounted on a tripod. For time warp, I'm holding the camera with my hand while I walk down the street or park or mounted in your car while driving. So time-lapse for static shots of the clouds or sunsets and timewarp for movements while walking, or hiking etc.

Great compare/contrast! 👍 Another reason for Time-Lapse Photo over Video mode is when attempting to capture lightning. I have collected thousands of individual pics and can quickly glean through them by the flashes, reducing the pics to maybe 1 or 2 dozen in a few minutes.

Basically you better use timewarp when the camera is gonna be on the move, could be a motorcycle, car, bicycle, etc. and timelapse when you want to record a sunset and the camera will be steady.

Hi there. I am wondering if you can use a GoPro to take 1 picture a day for 18 months (construction project timelapse). I understand that the slowest frequency GoPro has for a time lapse is 1 picture every 5 minutes which woul dbe too frequent for this project. Furthermore, ideally it would upload the picture to the cloud every day. Thank you in advance for your help.

does TimeWarp automatically have hypersmooth? I am using linear + horizon leveling with my timewarp 4K settings and wondering if that's overkill. Basically do you think TimeWarp 4k with wide digital lens will be just as smooth as TimeWarp 4k with linear + horizon leveling digital lens? Thank you.
@Indpendent014 жыл бұрын
I personally noticed (and also in your video) that the Hero8 timewarp's stabilization moved the image in really strange ways when driving (4:05 pointing more left than straight, 4:15 swaying, and just generally making the car look like it's bouncing around the whole time which is more distracting than normal timelapse). Also, the Hero8 video nightlapse gives me artifacts sometimes - I'm still trying to figure out what causes this. Lastly, it seems that 100Mbit for videolapse is a new feature for the Hero9 as my Hero8 does not have it!

@@AirPhotography I need help! Hi, I'm new to GoPro and just got the Hero 9 Black and the Max Lens. The Max Lens comes in that black silicone holder. My question/comment is this: When you take the Max lens out of the holder, the holder then becomes useless. i.e. It doesn't stay together. The top and bottom just don't fit together. 2nd; What do YOU do with the lens you take off to install the Max lens? My dilemma is that I am planning on thru hiking the Appalachian Trail beginning March 21, 2021 and I need to keep weight down and "things like storing the lens" simple. The GoPro adds weight and complexity with all the mounts, lenses, etc. Now I have one more thing to figure out when hiking: How do I store the lens I just took off when in a harsh environment with wind, rain and weight being issues. You can't really reuse the Max lens silicone container to put the lens you just took off because it doesn't close securely so it's useless for anything but the Max lens. I hope you can suggest something. Thank you, John from MI
