Its a good example of how things can be handled. Ramsey is usually shown going off on them if they talk back at all, but with this guy he realized he had pushed too hard. Before the "stfu" these guys had been gems as far as listening and being respectful of ramsey. I think usually there is alot of passive aggressiveness before the outburst, but this gentlemen held out until the breaking point and even then wasn't super charged over the stfu. @@astonmargolis-dias7089 He just has a really intimidating personality. You can try act like you are some bad ass who doesn't get intimidated all you want. Someones personality CAN be intimidating and scary. Especially when that someone is one of the greatest chiefs in the world, your boss and you are trying to make it in the industry. Working for Gordon is one of the biggest opportunities you can get in the restaurant industry. Of course you are going to be scared when he is yelling at you. Chances are you wont get an opportunity like that again. Even if he doesn't blacklist you, what are the chances you would get another job for someone of Gordon's level? Back when Gordon was working under Marco Pierre White, anytime Marco thought someone was messing up too much he would unleash Ramsay on them. His blowups are legendary even before he became a huge TV star. And the whole point of my post was to tell you this is not "a much more accurate representation of how he would actually conduct service". Not for you to show how tough you are and how he wouldn't scare you. Gordan IS legit crazy during service. He is actually much meaner then you see in the USA TV shows because he is not trying to be funny during his dinner services. Aston Margolis-Dias this is a completely different context then Hell’s Kitchen. Hell’s Kitchen hey compete to run one of his places and be an executive in his group. That’s like doing a competition to be a general in he military. F word is just group of amateurs learning then competing for some prize not a job. And he doesn’t have to call around to black list. In high end kitchens there’s lineages. The chefs in that world know each other for the most part. So if you get fired from Gordon in a really bad way and then you go and apply to work in another high caliber chefs kitchen and hey hear you worked for Gordon they’d get in touch with him and find out why. He or his people say why and boom no job. Word spreads and you’re done.

Yeah, Gordon's marketing department cultivates this image of him as this short tempered screaming, swearing maniac. But in reality, you see he's actually a really great guy who sincerely cares for the people under him, someone who is deeply passionate about his craft and simply wants people to meet their full potential. What I love is that whenever he does scream at people, he doesn't make reference to how much better he is than them. He never says that they'll never be good or that they'll never get up to his level. There's no ego there. He screams at them because they make stupid mistakes that he expects anyone in the culinary field to be mindful of, he screams at them to be better, to be what he knows they can be. His anger isn't malicious, its not anger at being surrounded by people who are idiots, its anger at being surrounded by people choosing to be idiots.

@joedanero53606 жыл бұрын
Actually the "Amateur" Chef was logical, well spoken, and simply stated his terms of this relationship. "If I'm doing the wrong thing then you only have to tell me once and I'll do differently and if I fuck up again I'm confident enough to ask for instruction again to make sure I'm not missing something." I think Ramsay clearly got that from this guy. When Ramsay tried to press him off and he stood his ground Ramsay backed off and held out the olive branch first and offered to do it with him. This is the sign of a good leader and the "amateur" chefs composure was that of someone who is a mentally solid individual under stress. Some of these comments are what bothers me. So many individuals are blood thirsty to see their version of dictator authority in action that they lose all sense of reality. A leader who pays attention and plays to the strengths and weaknesses of their team to work on that team rather than a dictator who treats everyone as disposable will always be the victor. Which do you want to work for? There are far too many of the latter and that is why they are not as successful as Gordon Ramsay.

@@toshathebeautiful8389 I don't know what non-skilled jobs you work, but my employment was negotiated between me and my employer. I was screened by many, hired for my skills and experience, and proved them along with the ability to work in a team environment. YES. If my "NEW" supervisor goes overboard I have a personal responsibility to put a stake in the ground around my agreed on terms and conditions and go overboard in response to that. If there is something new to be tasked, but well within my capability of learning then abuse is something to not be tolerated. In fact it is a sign of poor management skills and potentially deeper issues within the company if its even allowed to get to that point. This here is a drama reality TV show and Ramsey is playing the antagonistic boss in character. Many people know that. However, at the same time, this was one example that demonstrates that Gordon is also business savvy and will not let talent walk off. Button pushers, burger flippers, and laborers don't have that luxury nor do a lot of them seem to be aware any of these things exist for real in a workplace.

This is why I love chef Ramsay. Yes he gets angry and flips, as all head chefs do (trust me, I know). But he's always the bigger man and never let's it escalate too far. Shows his soft side all the time and makes peace with who he argues with ( they deserve it) and helps them out. Many head chefs need to learn that , that is true leadership.

He's not angry because he's some sort of diva that isn't getting the respect he's deserved, he's angry because he knows that the guys here are talented, but they're not putting the effort in that he knows they can put in. Gordon is a legend. He's always been a mind blowing chef, however the maturity and interpersonal skills he's developed since his early days in the kitchen have earned him a high level of respect from me personally. I used to use the name "Gordon Ramsay" as an example of why being a chef is so fucking horrible, and possibly the worst career anyone could ever choose! However, these days I love watching him work with and bring the best out of common everyday chefs such as myself. Many of us will never get anywhere close to Gordon's level of skill, and I admire him for not only realising that, but knowing how to help us reach our own individual potential in the kitchen regardless of where that may lie on the spectrum of cooking skill. In my eyes, Gordon has grown from being a phenomenal chef into a phenomenal human being.
