You just made my opinion on the rap part turn on its head. I never liked it, but when I read this, it made sense. The slow pace 2D makes it feel like the ghosts are just casually doing there thing, but then Schoolboy Q comes in and makes the ghosts feel the anxiety and rapid pressure of PAC man after he got a power pellet. I was really scared after humanz that Gorrilaz had lost the magic. It had a few ok songs but they didnt feel like gorrilaz. The Now Now was slightly better. Had more good songs than bad. Again it felt like gorrilaz didn't have a direction. I get that's the point with gorrilaz, that they make what they want, but it felt like the inspiration wasnt there. This, however, is awesome. Each song is different with amazing guest stars. It really does feel like demon days with a modern twist.

That funkiness and feeling like it's not quite music from our own reality, but that of these characters rather? The only problem with this Song Machine project is that it's not structured like an album. It's basically a series of REALLY GOOD but completely disconnected songs, if they release it in vinyl form it would be basically a playlist, so I don't see Anthony giving it a very high score if that is the case. I love when me and AntFant agree Let me expand on that. I was absolutely reminded of Demons Dayz which is probably my favorite Album by Gorillaz (including Dsides with that because some of my favorite tracks are off that album as well) and while I love the more frenedic tracks and certainly miss those, this was an amazing return to form that is really nice to hear. I didn't know what what to think of ScHoolboy Q's flow to start but as the track went on it really grew on me and he's another artist I'll be looking more I to thanks to our boy Melon.
