Very fair review Baz for that (it pains me to say) instrument. Just in time for bonfire night that one Baz haha! Thanks again for all that you do! Love this Channel. So wish you had more subscribers. You truly deserve that!

Thanks Baz - you’ve suffered here (heck, a couple of things had me wincing while watching) to hopefully spare some others from disappointment. The tone is surprisingly decent though - I was expecting far worse. Not that it makes up for the other defects.

Yep - a ‘what could have been’ uke - but also a lesson in why I tell people to avoid drop shipped ukes

Thanks Baz, great review, it is coming into the season for gifts and I am with you, buy from a specialist, you will not be dissapointed and they have Ukes for most budgets. On the plus point, it is getting colder and after a quick strum it could also double up on saving on the heating bill by WHIZZing it in the wood burner. Have a great week.

I could see the gap between strings and finger board before you'd even mentioned it! Surprised that it didn't cause more problems. From my experience I think lack of sustain is an issue in a beginner's instrument. As soon as you try and do a hammer on or a slurred note - it doesn't work (for me that was about 3 months into my ukulele ownership and had me looking for a better option - by then I'd thankfully found your site :-) ). Thanks for covering all the bases.

Talking of hammer ons, would a hammer on the back fix the neck issue? 😂

When the melody of the intro goes up is a good ukulele and when it goes down is a bad one? Great detail 💚💚💚

If I'm getting a uke for my grandkids I'd buy a Rockjams brand for about $35. Rockjams is quite good quality and playability for a budget uke.

Don't see them over in the UK. I'd be getting a Makala, a Flight travel or an Octopus

Good review as usual despite so many flaws....and that neck! You did give it some positivity if the QC was up to scratch. But better to spend a bit for a better instrument than waste money on this one.

I think this uke is especially bad for beginners, because the action makes it so much harder to play. I think a beginner might well just give up, not realizing that a better uke could make a huge difference. Good review.
@GotAUkulele Жыл бұрын
Bear in mind - high action can occur on ANY uke if not set up properly. It's not the preserve of cheap ukes. That said - this has many other terrible things in store also!!

by any chance can you recommend me a uke up to €100 that is worth it? thanks in advance
@richbow42cdo Жыл бұрын
I think you hit the nail on the head with the comment about it being aimed at parents and grandparents buying it for kids. I know not everyone can afford to splash out a few hundred on a decent uke, (especially a first timer that's never played one and just fancies having a go) but it is better to get a good quality instrument that feels and sounds nicer, you are far more likely to enjoy playing it, more likely to stick with it and will get a lifetime of enjoyment from it. Hope people watching and thinking of getting something like this for kids xmas presents will take your advice and at least go to a proper uke dealer!
@GotAUkulele Жыл бұрын
I can easily recommend others at this price which are safer bets.
@MarkALong64 Жыл бұрын
If the neck is moving, that is probably absorbing a lot of energy from strings which will destroy the sustain.
@GotAUkulele Жыл бұрын
In my experience, I doubt it had much to start with - very cheap plywood

Baz plays this uke-shaped thing so we don’t have to. That’s suffering for your art 😂

If I had to sum this uke up it would be “toy ukulele that has a surprisingly decent tone”

Pretty much. And without a busted neck - probably not a total dog

maybe an idea to make the videos a little shorter for these types of found instruments? (haha) Thank you for your time. Even after all the guitar designs that have been copied, ukulele brands only seem to be copying at the moment.
@GotAUkulele Жыл бұрын
Why? Not sure it would be fair to treat any ukulele differently in terms of how they are covered

Even Vangoa ukuleles are better built. I would not buy this one. There are other low priced ukuleles that look better and sound better. That said it is Not the worst sounding. I guess it would work to learn on. Thanks for another good review…. DOC

I usually like to think flattery, but not in this case. The poor quality of both the materials used and the build is no kind of flattery. No one, child or adult, would progress well with this "instrument". Thanks for reviewing these ukuleles too.

Color me crazy, but I just do NOT like colored instruments. They look like toys. Show me the wood. I wonder why people think cutting corners like this benefits anyone. I hope no one buys these and gets ripped off. Winzz should be ashamed. Thanks for this exposure!

Sigh, another beginner's instrument with a tie bar bridge? Talk about damping enthusiasm.... And do you think the neck could have been damaged in shipment? That's another risk of buying off-the-virtual-shelf.

Possibly - though was well boxed and no damage to any packing
