Floodplains are this game's _only_ source of negative appeal that can't be controlled by the player. You can literally chop up all of the rainforest and marshes and turn every tile of the empire into breathtaking with ease! Appeal games are my absolute favorite for the Preserve Tile Yields. And Sphinx giving +2 to adjacent tiles is insane.

No one ever said you have to play "peaceful" Civ game peacefully. Every AI you cripple or wipe out is one less AI to compete. This is why culture Zulu, Rome or Persia are my favorite "culture civs".

@@njmfff and that's literally the play style/ strategy with Persia. Wipe out neighbors early so that they can't compete culturally later. As long as you don't take their capital you don't get any debuffs, and the more cities to spam paridaezas, resorts and national parks the better.

5:55 i used vanilla cleopatra in the xbox game pass civ 6 game and found an uluru with two oasis tiles in full desert area. Made a city there and with just two population i had 8 food two gold one production and 6 culture and faith. Fortunately there were three desert hills nearby for production so i had to wait a bit to get it going. Once the petra wonder was finished, the city production exploded hard. Imagine a city center with 4 food, 2 of everything else. Two oasis with 5 food, 1 production, 3 gold, and 2 culture and faith. Three desert mines with 2 food 3 production and 2 gold then two sphinx next to the petra and the natural wonder getting 2 food one production 2 gold 3 culture and 5 faith. I saved the game and posted a screen shot after the petra was done on reddit.

I found this to be a really fun run. The tricky part is getting Tourism when you only have so many yields. You have to be pretty sparing in Faith usage until you either need a Great Person or get Naturalists/Rock Bands. It's fun doing a Preserve run!

Every time I invade a city on a floodplain, it floods and wipes out multiple units of mine. It's like building a dam, you're guaranteed a flood 1-5 turns before it's complete.

I want the new civilization game to alter the way you chose leader bonuses. Instead of choosing the leader before playing the game, you get to be leaderless for 10-20 turns. After that time passes and the first government starts developing, you can chose the leader you want to use and gain it's abilities. You still have to chose the civ you start as but at least you can vary your leader bonus based on the environment you start out in. Take the new cleopatra for example. What if you started somewhere where floodplains don't exists or are very scarce. You would rather use the vanilla cleopatra abilities instead. If the next game had this, Maybe we start with two or three leaders for every civ in the base game. Then expansion packs can have a new civ with two or three leaders each.

I play with the french localization (because the game is this way when you're french and lazy) (even though it messes with some sukritac UI mods lmao) and it says "resources around floodplains" so I thought it was, you know, adjacent, so I blundered turn 1 and kinda left the game there.
