Aww that's so cute, I am happy for you, you have such a supportive dad. My parents weren't that supportive, they still don't understand what goth is all about. They thought its just a phase, I am turning 40 soon 😅😅 But it was so funny, when my dad asked me: "Why skulls?!" And me: "See dad, some people like flowers and so like skulls!" 😅😅 I think he understood in a way.

@@AetherIdol Cool, so we are nearly same age! 😊😊 Even my parents still doesn't know what goth is all about, they tolerate it more then in my 20s or teens. I think soon as I accepted them don't like me like that and still being like I am, they accepted me the way I am 😅😅 Sounds kind of ironic, right? But I wish I hadn't to fight so hard for what I am, took me a lot of energy.

My interpretation of the Arby's commercial (this is my first time seeing it, for the record) is that they're showcasing someone who believes all sorts of really outrageous things, and then they ask her if she can believe Arby's has such a great deal, and she says she can't - implying the deal is so fantastic that even someone who believes in ghost children hugging their legs can't believe that craaaazy deal

I think the girl who took all the tables photos and paired them up was one of those people who saw how people looked at each other but were too afraid to say anything so she made a collag of couples to help them realize how nice it could be. That's just my interpretation though, so who knows?

Omg I remember the Coke bowling advert as a little girl in NZ and it made me want to be a goth because in my eyes they were the prettiest people I'd ever seen. Now I'm not entrenched in the gothic culture but consider myself "darkly inclined" but all my friends ect since I was a teen are the gothic community.

My attempt to explain Irn Bru: It tastes like if you mushed a foam banana, some bubblegum icecream, the taste of when you lick an envelope and the colour orange (not the fruit just the colour) into a rusty battery and then sucked on that. It tastes like that to me but in a good way (obviously don't suck batteries, I just imagine that a battery would have a certain taste based on the smell of them when they're old lol)

I sent my dad the paint ad like many others here and he wouldn’t even let me paint my room purple when I was a teenager, cause it was “too dark”. But since he past away, I’ve been turning the house into whatever makes me happy (to find some peace of mind), including painting it all black on the outside and I love it, couldn’t be happier 💖✨

As for the Hallmark one, yes, I can see a side-eye being given for the attempt at a money grab, but we must remember too that there are cultures around the world that do celebrate and honor the dead with tangibles; I could see them doing so with a card as well, as such actions can kind of make people feel that such a "celebration" keeps their crossed-over beloved "alive" in a sense.

LoL The Arby's one was part of a series and it was a parody, it was "an unbelievable deal" so they fake interviewed a medium, an alien conspiracy believer, and I think a Bigfoot researcher and they all at the end said they didn't believe the deal was real.

Someone else mentioned the cultures where people do many things for their dead, such as making fresh food ... to be able to also (or "in lieu of") purchase a greeting card might be the perfect thing. Personally, I would rather not subject the already-passed loved one to my low cooking skills, 😬 so the greeting card would make more financial sense 🦇🖤🐈‍⬛

I think, maybe, the vampire was too late to give her vamp relative a card, as the sun was coming up, so she left it for him to find, when he emerges the following night, hence belated. So it's supposed to look like a card left for the dead, but the twist is they're undead and receiving a BD card, rather than something like Fond Memories.

I feel you on the only goth in the village thing. I went to high school in Belfast in the early 2000’s, I was literally the only goth in the school. There was a few skaters but no other goths lol and emo and scene didn’t really exist yet. My first day in the school I was coined as Wednesday Addams and I spent the entire 5 school years being called Wednesday (that part I liked :P )

I have to make an additional comment on the vampire thing. Here are the answers to your questions: Q Nr.1) Does vampires have a digestive system? No, they don't. They don't need nutrition, because they drink blood. The blood though, even it is absorbed with the mouth, immediately nourish the cells. That's why vampires vomit as soon as they eat human food. There is a rest of a gullet that is still functioning. It has a reflex for vomiting as soon as a vampire is eating human food or drinks. The only liquid a vampire can drink, besides blood is strong alcohol, as like blood, most of it is absorbed by the cells. And yes a vampire can get drunk! So do vampires poop? No, they don't. You can find a lot of evidence by reading vampire literature. They can rest for a very long time and even they drink and spend the rest of their time in a coffin, they don't feel the need to go to a toilet. Q Nr.2) Do I stay the same age as I am now, when I become a vampire? Yes and no! You see a vampire isn't a creature like we are. We age naturally, but a vampire is dead and it can only survive when it drinks blood. The blood then doesn't provide the vampire like us with energy. It provides the vampire with life, as blood is literally life! So for example if you are 70 years old and you become a vampire and you are full of blood of a young person, you will look much younger, but still not like in your 20s anymore. If you become a vampire in your 20s on the other hand and you don't drink for a long time, you will look not only very old, but also like you are dead. That's why vampires often described as ageless. Q Nr.3) Can vampires walk in the day, when its cloudy? Yes they can, but they prefer not to do so. Direct sun makes their skin go on fire, but they are also very sensitive to UV light. If they need to, they go out in daytime on a cloudy day with an umbrella, which covers them. More questions? Feel free to ask! 😊😊

Problem with this though is that there are multiple different vampire lores so it really depends which you look at! (I did an entire massive project on vampires in school and dove DEEP into the history, lore, pop culture references and true stories that inspired much of the vampire content we consume today). For instance “Lost Souls” by Poppy Z Brite has vampires that can eat human food, but it won’t nourish them the way blood does. Another interesting thing about Poppy’s vampires is that no one can become a vampire. You can’t be bit and turned, in her world vampires are a separate race entirely, close enough to be able to breed with humans, but a human can never become one. That’s why it’s a fun discussion, the answers really depend on what specific rules you go by!

​​@@ToxicTears Yes, I think there are no perfect answers to that 😅😅 I red and watched every movie and book that is based on Bram Stoker's Dracula, as this is the first book you can find. There are though historical articles about vampires, that are much, much older. Or legends that are somehow made it through history. Bram Stoker's researches are based on that legends. "Demeter" btw existed in real life, it was called "Dimitri" though. Its the same thing with zombies. As it had nothing to do with a virus in the beginning. The word itself is from Haiti. It decribes a human in a deep trance that can be used as a mindless slave.

You should see the British one off show called House Hunting Goths. It's my favorite. Four Goths live together in a flat the trench coat wearing landlord lies about Jeffrey Dahmer being the previous tenant. One guy is a vampire and died his milk black and paints all the walls black while listening to Sisters of Mercy. The rats under the floor are always nibbling on the remnants of the landlord's murder victims, but the vampire turns things around eventually. He calls himself Grishneck which sounds more like an orc name, lol. I've never seen these commercials. This was a treat. Oh, in my hometown of Portland, we feature a goth couple in Portlandia. The man dressed like the Babadook

I'm Australian, so idk how this translates to people from other countries, but we have Irn Bru sold in a local international chocolate/sweets store that has heaps of American and UK stuff, and it tastes like traditional brown creaming soda to me, and I really enjoy Irn Bru a lot now.
