There are so many good reasons to do tattoos and piercings or dye ur hair. It can help a whole lot with ur insecurities. If u r getting old and ur hair is getting grey, u r getting insecure about it, dyeing hair can help with it. A good point on symbolic purpose of tattoos. My aunt did her tattoo bc her sister died in an awful car crush and my aunt wanted to commemorate and express her love to her sister with her tattoo, the tattoo said "love is eternal" or smth in Chinese. This has always touched me, but people keep seeing alt people as edgy teens that have beef with society. It would probably be a good idea to do a video with advantages of alt appearance, it would be fun.

I”being goth can be uncomfortable” wholeheartedly agree, a lot of things can be but it’s just to express yourself and get a certain look. People don’t think about how that’s common in fashion as a whole. Like the phrase “beauty is pain”

Regarding the thrift store topic, Style Theory recently made a great video covering it. I recommend giving it a watch. The TL;DR is that many factors are involved, including demographics, supply and demand, inflation, etc. Anyways, great video. Keep it up.

Mmm, interesting. I've wanted a tattoo for years and I've found someone who I think I would be comfortable going to for one. I also have a septum ring and an 8mm flesh tunnel in my left ear. In my experience, people who choose to get modified in someway do it for themselves - I certainly did it for myself, and people that I know with piercings and tattoos and stuff did it because they like it. Its...I wouldn't say a lot to go through if you're just looking for attention, but if a person is seeking attention there are other ways to do that. There are some types of modifications which can be a little extreme in my opinion (tattooing of the whites of the eyes for example, various kinds of implants that people can have), but ultimately its a choice thing. I think it can sometimes be indicative of an underlying psychological situation in some cases, but not always and I don't think its right that some people assume things the way they do without knowing the person, and knowing them well - it is a mistake to look at a person with tattoos and piercings and think that you know why they got them, in my opinion.

I agree! Everyone has a different story behind why they got tattoos or piercings. I personally would love to get a Rod of Asclepius tattood on me, because medicine is an important thing in my life :)

I got two nose piercings because my nose is really crooked, so I just shifted the focus to piercings instead and I feel better about myself 🤭

People should know you don't have to look goth to be goth. Not everyone wants that. And I think some bands don't want to be labeled goth. Cause they don't want to be restricted in their creativity. I am also suprised it still same judgement is going on since I was a kid/young adult in the 80s. It's sad. And goths should not have to be a sexual thing... Haha... I have Halloween all year long. And I decorate even more when it's time for Halloween. We don't celebrate it that big in Sweden either. I had to remove my makeup today too. Cause it didn't stay. So I just took it off... Nowadays I am comfy show a more natural face too. I am not less goth... I am blonde and still get called emo. When I was younger I colored my hair black and other colors. But still I will be called emo I do have tattoos and piercings. The last I think came from the "punk part"... Thrift shops are expensive here too. But I found a good one recently.
