Even when I go out in my full TRAD goth look - everytime I get shouted at: "EMO!". Some days when I have tough luck it happens multiple times. How can someone assume what subculture are others in when they don´t even know their music taste or how they feel...

I get called emo quite a lot now as a person who's more into the goth scene and music, but back when I was an actual emo kid (many years ago) I got mistaken for goth a lot and I just stopped correcting them because some people don't care. People are always going to get it wrong, and I can't help but laugh at it. It's clear to us that there's a difference, but the normal styled people just don't see it that way 😂 At least we know who we are.

My mother (who wasn’t alt in any way) loved the fact I was a weirdo. She despaired of other peoples’ boring normal kids. She cared more about me doing well at school and being intelligent/getting a degree. It’s a shame some parents these days aren’t open-minded enough to realise they need their kids to be themselves, be happy and healthy and well adjusted and able to do what makes them happy in life. My Mum knew this was all that *truly* mattered in the 1970s!! As a child, I wanted to be Morticia Addams or Lily Munster. As an adult #nailedit 🤣👍🏻

Well being in South Africa, my dad was wondering how he raised me as the eldest child that's a goth, and funny enough my teachers in my school thought I was a good student until they saw me casual and I told them I'm gothic.🤣😅

Waarom ik sommige dingen denk? Ik weet ongeveer 80% zeker dat jij Nederlandse bent. Je zult zien dat het iets minder idealistisch gaat worden met de tijd? Maar ik ontmoet nog altijd mensen die een beetje alternatief waren. En daarbij, mijn eerste echte liefde was een goth meisje, terwijl ik helemaal gabber was😄. Vind het ook nog steeds bijzonder sexy bij sommige dames.
