ONE OF THE BEST MAGNUS INTERVIEWS I HAVE EVER SEEN!!
@johnwest79933 ай бұрын
For a guy who is moderately considerate of the egos of others, Magnus is the most flat-out honest world number 1 at ANYTHING that I've ever seen, especially since he's been the world number 1 for so many years. It's as if it never occurred to him to be either egotistical or humble. You can ask the guy if he thinks he will still be the world number one in 5 years and he will honestly sit there thinking it through until he has figured it out. He has no answer until he has analyzed it thoroughly. But if you ask him who is the best chess player in the world today he will simply say, "Me." No thought is needed because he already knows the correct answer. And saying "Magnus is," is the answer that every GM on the planet will give you with the possible exception of Hans. This is a man who knows and acknowledges exactly where he stands right down to 6 decimal places. I predict that if Hans does beat him in this tournament then Hans will go to interviews making a chest-pounding ass of himself, claiming to be history's greatest chess player, and Magnus will shrug, and finally have some incentive to go home, get some sleep, eat well, hit the prep and crush Hans like a bug in the next tournament. I'm amazed that the guy can rise to the challenge so often when he's been so great for so long. That's what I see as his greatest skill.
@Krakatit303 ай бұрын
Magnus in general is not arrogant, but extremely objective. He evaluates himself and others with a very high degree of accuracy, which is kinda to be expected from a person who's considered the strongest chess player of all times. Objectivity is a trait than can help a lot in chess, and it's no surprise for me that he also displays this skill in real life.

But what I find interesting is that my own impression about chess at this level is that the more I study the people involved, in my mind, chess looks less like a game and more like a sport even though it sounds odd to say that it is still my impression.😀

What a breath of fresh air after that absolutely awful Hans interview. Having a guest with class and a good sense of humour is so much better than listening to the whiny manchild cry about being hard done by for 40 minutes straight

13:56 that comment he made about hikarus recent success is super endearing really touched my soul...

Nah, Magnus is him, bro is so confident that he's the king it's kinda rare hearing anybody who's dominating a sport speaking like him. "I am better", nah we need to hear this

Bro just called Hans a villain 😂

I mean, he was just stating the obvious. Hans has basically admitted to wanting this title.

I think magnus thinks levy is chill, he’s acting very casual than i feel like i usually see him

The thing about basketballers is they play up the story of glory for viewership, Chess players give an accurate realistic response to the questions. But hey maybe this honesty in the game will make hype moments and upsets even better.
