@@Eliorile What? The whole world knows about the "beads" thing and very few people know it isn't true, relatively speaking. Even my brother who never played chess in his life, never watched a single game and doesn't even know any professional chess player said to me at the time "Did you see the news? A guy called Hans Niemann got caught cheating in the most embarrassing way I've ever seen in any game or sport ever! It's all over the news." My friends who don't play chess know about it. Almost everybody knows about it and most of these people don't know that it never happened because they've only seen that and didn't follow up on it. If you think that didn't wreck his public image, I don't know what else to say to you. I don't care for Hans attitude either, but "if Hans acted like Hikaru he would be hyper loved"? Really? Hikaru is a smug and malicious person. The thing he loves the most is putting other people down for fun. I would never use him as an example of a likeable person. He's just not. He's a great player and that's the only reason why some fanboys pretend he's ok.

I don’t doubt he feels like a victim and that the process was brutal and political. It’s sad to see him so effected. What is interesting to me is he (despite several opportunities) doesn’t deny cheating after the 13yo incident. For most people, that would be the first thing you’d do. Instead he jumps straight to casting doubt over the reports and evidence. Very weird and reminds me of “never failed a test” Lance Armstrong.

You can be an ass and still never cheat in over the board games. Magnus refusing to play him was as disconnected as Kramnik. Anyone would be mad about being called a chess engine by half the world because higher seeded opponents made mistakes. Its not like other GMs don't also have awful personalities and glaring character faults. Levy was fairer than other commentators but he still capitalised off the viral speculation.

@micahpillsbury8511 But this all started when Magnus accused with no evidence . Kramnik accuses Hikaru with no evidence and we say he's crazy , Magnus does the exact same thing and people believe him and spread theories and he loses out on job opportunities. Its insane and unfair, and the only reason Kramnik was laughed at is because everybody likes Hikaru , which is great , but what the heck did Hans do to deserve all that ? So of course he wants to drive a point home every interview , turns out if you don't speak on yourself then somebody else will do it for you . I figure thats probably how Hans sees things . Not to mention not a single one of them have ever apologized or admitted wrongdoing , including Gotham.

This boy was given a tremendous amount of power at his young age. I dont like the fact that everyone is holding his teenage mistakes over his head.
