I may not have understood the words but I could feel the emotion in her voice. One thing I love about music is it’s universal even if you don’t speak the language you can feel the emotion and appreciate the beautiful voice behind it! As an American who’s watched many wars over her lifetime but nothing has ever affected me like a war fought not by my country’s soldiers but one of a country I’ve never stepped foot in. I’ve been following the war since the invasion in February 😢2022. I know Russia invaded in 2014 which is a precursor of the war being fought today by Ukrainians ! The people of Ukraine are inspiring! As an American when I see other countries around the world endure hardships, war, corrupt governments, poverty, oppression , etc what always stands out to me is the camaraderie, love, compassion and the willingness to risk one’s life to save another. Really makes me realize how selfish and self seeking us Americans are taught to be. So many here can’t be bothered to help each other without expecting anything in return. No integrity. I admire the love, respect & selflessness that other countries tend to have. They take care of their elderly and vets ! They don’t just place them in nursing homes because their families can’t be bothered to take care of those who once took care of them. It’s so common for the elders in any family in countries around the world to be living with their children and grandchildren until they pass on from the life. That’s how it should be! I love my country and I know I was blessed to be born here because we do have some luxuries and freedoms millions around the world would dream of having and I really try not to take that for granted. I try to instill those values to my children.
