What happens if I am 10 ft too short to cover the front and side of my house with the Govee 150ft RGBIC kit, and I use the 16ft extention from Amazon to get the full coverage and I cut the extra 6 ft off? Would this be okay or has anyone tried this? Thanks

Q: I would like to cut off excess (4 LEDs) at the end of a (100'+extension) strand then insert them at the very beginning of the strand. This was an install mistake on my part. Is this possible to do and will the app still work like it should? Thanks again!
@jbsdiytv Жыл бұрын
You can’t do that because the beginning and end have direct arrows and it read as part of another strand. The pros don’t have that, they’ll work any way

@@jbsdiytv Can I cut off the 4?
@jbsdiytv Жыл бұрын
@lelandhitchcock if you need to cut off 4 at the end, then go right ahead. make sure you still count that as a full strand in the segment under settings.

I have a question about the cutting them in 4’s you always mention. Is it only that the start of a run cannot be less than 4? If I needed to cut off the last light on my string then go up to my 2nd floor. So I will cut the last light out. Splice my extension into the line then at the top I have to start with that 1 remaining light then continue on? Thanks a lot love the videos.

If you need to cut the strand then do so and it can be anywhere, just take up or down to the next soffit area. Keep your jumps to a minimum of 2ft and the longer jumps use what’s provided by Govee. If you end your strand, we typically don’t cut no less than 4 lights at the beginning. Someone has mentioned it works if you only need two. We haven’t tried that since these lights belong to our client but not saying it isn’t possible

If I needed a 25ft section... How long is each section of lights? If I bought a 50 ft section, could I use just half of the lights and they still work?
@jbsdiytv Жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for your support. Each strand is 17feet long. Yes you can cut lights off but don’t go under 4 lights at the beginning of a strand. You should always have 4 or more lights left in your strand and need’s to be programmed in your settings as a full segment. There are 12lights to a strand fyi

Awesome. Thanks for your quick response. I've been watching your videos repeatedly. I just bought a 150 ft and two 50 ft packages. Looking forward to this install.

Hi JB, thanks for your videos, all us DIYers appreciate them. For custom spliced jumps, what wire do you recommend - do you have a link or product name to something on Amazon or Home Depot that would work? Sounds like we want 3-strand and gauge 18 - 22. Could low voltage landscape wiring be used?
@jbsdiytv Жыл бұрын
Link is also in my other videos. Let me know if ow if you can’t find them and I’ll place it here. Look in the description for the links

Stay with 18 gauge it's what's used in the lights, don't go with thinner wire.

So they say dont go over 150 feet is that true? will you have a power drop after 150 feet? trying to plan out my install. This includes jumps. I have a total of about 200 feet of soffit to cover.
@jbsdiytv Жыл бұрын
Yes that’s for correct. That’s on 100ft added 50ft and 150ft kits. Buy two 100ft so you can take some from one or another box. Plan to power them in a way that they all stream in one direction. You can group both to sync. Watch our Govee app for grouping

For the lights you had on your own adapter... did you buy those seperatately? And how do they all sync together if not same strand?
@jbsdiytv Жыл бұрын
All the Govee boxes come with a power adapter and controller. The client ask me what they needed. I told them they needed a 100ft and a 50ft. The 100 was for the bottom while the top dormers were the 50. Yes they can be grouped together. I have other videos to explain this
