Can the power adapter be either on the end or start of the wires?
@jbsdiytv4 күн бұрын
No, the power adapter and controller need to be directionally to properly perform like they should. Each end has a male connection and female connection. The female connection is the start of the strand. The controller where the lights get hooked up is a male connection with 3 prongs

What if one bulb goes out, do you need to replace the whole strand or just the one?
@jbsdiytv4 күн бұрын
If one bulb goes out you can splice the product with a new bulb. That is an option but why do that when Govee backs their products with warranties and they have exceptional customer service. All you will have to do is go into the Govee app and report an issue for a replacement

Are these lights the same as companies like trim light, Astoria, jelly fish, etc uses?
@jbsdiytv4 күн бұрын
No they are not. This is a Govee DIY product. Trim light uses pixels, others use pucks lights that snap into a track. Most of those companies charge 5-7k for 100ft install. We are just meticulous with all our installs and we install above the manufacturer’s recommendations to last longer

@jbsdiytv10 күн бұрын
Someone was having the same issue on my facebook Govee group. With the app updates, some firmware isn’t updated so if you have an iPhone, offload the app and bring it back. If that doesn’t work for you then delete the app and reinstall it. That should fix it. Don’t worry, deleting the app isn’t deleting your devices, just sign back in and it will all be there. Hope this helps you.

You seem very knowledgeable about these lights, and I can't get an answer from govee so maybe you can help? I am about to hang my 2nd set of outdoor permanent lights (original not pro), and where I have electrical, and for daytime aesthetics, I'd like to have the lights both start (power supplies and controllers) on the back right of the house, and then meet on the front of the house near the door (not connect just ends of both sets near each other). If I do this, can I reverse one string so they flow together correctly? Or, do I have to just deal with having the 2nd set start where the 1st set ends. I'm maxing the distance on the first set as it's already mounted, so this is all about adding the 2nd set. Great videos though appreciate it!!!

@johnphillips3526Ай бұрын
Does the controller have to be placed anywhere specific?
@jbsdiytvАй бұрын
It depends. How many controllers do you have? If it’s one as long as it’s near your router to connect first. If it’s two then connect them first in your app and then you can install them. Try and keep them close to your attic entrance to be able to calibrate them if you have the pro version. You can add an extension before you get to your lights and after the controller. If you have non pros then you need to keep in mind that when install left to right it will cast a purple white and right to left will be a greenish white. This is because the non pros use 3 different colors to make white and it’s the way the diode is manufactured in place

Since mine have the same starting point, is there a way to program one CW and the other CCW?
@jbsdiytvАй бұрын
Thank you for your comment. If I understand correctly…both your devices start at point A but they work opposite to each other as opposed to running them in the same direction. In this case for the Govee scenes you can’t edit their direction of clockwise and counterclockwise. Now, if you were to create you own scenes in DIY or Fingersketch, then yes there is a directional clockwise or counterclockwise that can be done. You would need to duplicate your DIY so it will be best to create it under the DIY tab instead of. You said one controller for 200’. Did that change with the pro? I thought you could only run 150’
@jbsdiytvАй бұрын
Correct. At that time we installed 2-100ft kits together on one controller and it worked. Since the firmware updates we had to go back and add the LED Driver Module after the fifth strand of lights because there were performance issues after the updates. I would recommend adding that LED Driver Module always now if going passed 150ft. Thank you for your comment

I live in Florida with a simple install of 250 feet or so it’s like going around the brim of a hat. I’m going all the way around the house so I’ll need 2 kits. I’m starting from and outlet behind my house and going both ways to meet in the middle. Will I have a problem getting them to work sequence if I do this or does the app take care out it during setup? I see through you video how to group more than one controller which I will have to do ,but i just wanted to know if it’s is possible to meet in the middle. Thanks
@jbsdiytv3 ай бұрын
If you install your two separate systems working them to the middle like that it won’t be a problem when you make your own DIY’s because you can change them to clockwise to counterclockwise so it will fix itself then. Now in the Govee presets you can’t change directions only speeds for some presets. Accent spot lighting won’t affect anything. If possible, always try and keep the install in one direction so they all stream the same. Pro lights are the way to go. Hope this answers your question
@TimReyer-ut5jh3 ай бұрын
Thanks so you think I’ll have problems with the preset scenes? They won’t flow correctly?
@jbsdiytv3 ай бұрын
Some scenes will be hard to tell but you’ll notice it in some of the slower ones. You’ll see a break in where it starts. So if it’s in the side of the house. Both sides and back will be different to the front. Good dry run would be best at night. Lay like 3 strands going one way and 3 the other way at point A. Then connect the devices there at point A and then select a scene for each device in the app. See their directions go away from each other. Then group them in the app and then set the same scene again while they are grouped and you’ll see the stream do the same as before. Grouping has them respond as one but not their direction. Grouping helps to picking scenes without going to each device every time. Good luck
@timothyreyer47533 ай бұрын
Thank you I’m going to do just that. I figured if I experiment before I put them up I’ll know better. As for the pro version I would have, but I already bought these around Christmas time and still haven’t put them up. I’m already vested in these. Again thanks for the help.
@jbsdiytv3 ай бұрын
@@timothyreyer4753 something I would like to add when it comes to the non pro lights. The non-pro lights, it uses three colors to make white. @@Riverlee74 I’m sorry, I had a hard time finding your notifications from this weekend. Weird.
