Media inspired crime... well, I'd go along with that if parents let the media raise their kids. I say lazy and stupid parents who have not a single iota of common sense & good parenting judgement leads to little morons thinking guns will solve their problem, even emotional ones. Take for example, who in the Hell buys their kid a Sig when that same kid was cooking up artwork of people getting shot. That Sandy Hook shooter, his idiot mother kept ARs in the open, along with the damn ammo. Idiot! If one's kids are off, don't exacerbate their worst tendencies. Get a dang clue, lock up and safe off your guns if you must have them.

I'm a former police officer, firefighter and medic. I offered the schools in my area to be their Resource Officer - and all turned me down because "we don't need this", "we can't pay you" (I would have volunteered), "it scares the kids", "the parents won't like a militant presence in the school". My school back in 1971, a junior high school had a Tucson Police resource officer. Without any intimidation he steered me in the right direction when I was 13. Not sure if he knew it, but God did, I hope I see that man in heaven when I get there!! He was also directly involved in my positive attitude of police officers so much that I served with the Air Force Security Police for 6 years, then served with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office for another 20 years. In 1971 we had no fear of someone coming on the campus armed to kill us kids, it was not even a thought.

I am from Australia. You nuts in USA are crazy. We dont have 'resource officers'. I had to look it up. You guys have police officers at school full time during a school day. That is a joke. We would have police officers come maybe once or twice a year to do a talk for 15mins about 'staying out of trouble' etc. We dont have a cop on school property 9am - 3pm. everyday. That is ridiculous and a waste of resources.

It's more tone down now since everyone is trying to make money with mostly gang violence centralized around in-fighting rather than warring with other gangs and the zones of "conducting" has already been established in the early 2000s.

I was present immediately after a school shooting very early in my career. As an EMT, we had only one victim to treat, who unfortunately died from a close quarters shotgun blast. The reason its not news at the Acushnet Elementary School in Acushnet MA (back in 1998 I think it was) is very simply because the principal, seeing the gunman walk by his office and head towards the library full of kids, TACKLED the suspect and held him while others removed the firearm. Spot on, only way to stop violence is to be prepared to do violence.

1993 to be exact. In December 2001, Washington Post wrote up your neighboring town, New Bedford, as an example of how the system worked. The Post's observation, and I tend to agree, the city is so hardscrabble, expecially back then, that the attitude was not the "it would never happen here" of a more wealthy district. New Bedford was more like "damn right it could happen here, it WILL happen here, if it can happen aywhere it could happen here". So they prepared for it. Active shooter drills, being on the lookout for suspicious behavior and all that. Sure enough, they found the suspicious behavior, student mouthing off about violence. Police investigated, and they found the weapons and explosives. The kids involved were interviewed, and like Massad Ayoub points out here, it's important NOT to give these kids publicity. The kids involved said they wanted to outdo Columbine.

Spending 60-100k/year keeping a 20 something who murdered children alive for 60 years is delusional behavior facilitated by "compassionate" politicians appealing to sheltered voters, usually while owning a piece of the for profit prisons they happily fill "out of the kindness of their heart". I’m just throwing this out. It’s good that you’re armed and volunteer to defend your church and school family but don’t underestimate the value of training. Having a firearm is only part of the equation. The answers comes when you get the training. Standing at a gun range shooting a static target doesn’t replicate a gun fight. Seek out kinetic combat pistol training. . As a person who has been a gun person my entire life, I thought I understood self-defense with a handgun. The truth of the matter is I didn’t know how much I didn’t know. Not only will you learn a lot but you’ll have a lot of fun. “We never rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training”

I am a retired music teacher and a Navy Veteran.. I've been trained as a NRA Pistol Instructor and attained Marksman upon completing the 250 Pistol course offered by Gunsite Academy. I always asked the RSO if he would like assistance if the situation was dire. I was always prepared for this and subscribed to all local laws in doing so. I suggested that teachers who are military veterans be given the opportunity to train as Auxiliary Police officers allowing them to carry in schools legally. 6 APOs could accomplish the goal of keeping students safe because of three advantages, 1) they know the foot print of the school., 2) they know the students who will take instruction from them as a matter of course, 3) and their training is consistent with the police in that jurisdiction. As with your mention of the principal at Sandy Hook, teachers have demonstrated over and over again their willingness to protect their students with the same dedication the Secret Service protects our Presidents. They should be armed and once this becomes public knowledge, the shootings would end because the cowardly bastards would find another soft target. I developed this in 2012 and the administrators are as cowardly as the evil shooters.

I read an article some months ago in the USCCA magazine which claims many of the teachers don’t want to carry a gun in school because if they did it would put them in the position of having a to be an “active” defender at the school and they really didn’t want that responsibility. The gentleman writing the article work for the US CCA but was retired county deputy/schoolteacher. As teachers I would like your thoughts on this.

Yea this position would be to assume enough teachers in each school want to carry a gun. Want to train with a gun. Face danger head on. And are prepared to end the life of another. At the latest shooting the school had a police force and an officer in the school. He didn't engage the person and the officers ran when the shooting started.

You make many points, sir. I'm retired after 32 years LE, the last 6 spent in school safety and security methods within my department and the surrounding school districts. The biggest obstacle to overcome is, sadly, apathy. Apathy within LE, school districts and the community itself. The "It can't happen here" mentality. A pervasive cancer that I strongly believe had a strong hold in the most recent tragedy in Uvalde.

I'd value your take on the Uvalde shooting. I've seen the argument, many times, that arming school staff is ridiculous given that the entire Uvalde police force wouldn't confront the shooter. "And you think a schoolteacher would?!". And so on. Worthless anecdote: My neighbor is a high school English teacher. She had never SEEN a gun until I took her shooting at my camp. Dead on with the AR-15, first try. Does quite well with pistols, despite my poor training. She's hardly the bravest soul, but if she were armed and minimally trained, and there was a threat to her classroom, god help the shooter.

Kentac, I wholeheartedly agree, and intend to send this clip to as many people and as many places as I can think of! I spent almost 20 years developing school safety plans in one of the most liberal, anti-gun states in the nation. When I left (forced out by the administration, who hated the fact that I spoke my mind and didn't kowtow to the liberal stupidity which was pervasive in the public school even then in the 1990's) I had two file cabinet drawers filled with data taken from school shootings between 1999 and 2010, as well as information on school attacks going back to the 1920's. One of the commonalities between almost all of those incidents was the fact that the killing stopped once the attacker was confronted by someone with a gun!. Usually that was the point at which they took their own lives, but almost always it was the point at which their rampage stopped! I'm sure there will be those who'll chide Ayoob for being so dramatic in this video, but obviously he's doing it for a damned good reason. I only wish there were more school administrators with the mindset described by Ayoob in this video clip. Unfortunately the majority of them are spineless wimps, who are petrified of identifying to the authorities those kids in their school whom they can TELL are little psychopaths with the capacity to commit acts of mass murder! The fact is in almost EVERY instance where someone used a gun to kill many people- whether at a school or in the workplace - those who knew the perpetrator KNEW that they were capable of these acts, and were not surprised when they did! We need to be identifying and treating mentally sick people - NOT taking away the only means of self-defense from decent people.

I would have hated having police in my school at any time K-12. Why have them? That makes a school seem like a prison. I never thought, at any point K-12, that I was in danger and needed armed personnel at my school. The percentage, per capita, who are dangerous "psychopaths" (or whatver language one uses) is no greater today than in the 1500s -- as far as I've been able to tell, at least. If you want to get some real perspective on who and what is a danger to you personally, investigate the history of what in the 20th Century began being called "mass murder" -- globally. Then investigate murders, who commits them, what are the circumstances. A mindset of fear is a mindset of uselessness, and a mindset that keeps everyone from living a decently enjoyable life. One of the worst things anyone can do to a developing (juvenile) mind is to create an environment of fear/intimidation. In fact, that increases the likelihood the fearful and intimidated child will grow up with skewed right/wrong decision-making. And that's one of the factors in making "psychopath" status.

"News" (better said, fear-generating) media would have us think we should militarize every public setting because so many dangerous people live among us. This is why I said, look into murders and mass murders over human history, around the world. Decide for yourself whether you should be as afraid as the "news" wants you to be. I've taken my gun into IMAX. My son was laughing at the announcement about metal detectors to detect the 3D glasses they didn't want to lose but not detecting my pistol. I also carry to the regular movie theater and local community theater.

@@dexter726 There were no metal detectors at the theater in Aurora Colorado and the shooter still used the side door. Please make sure you understand the details of the example and the point I'm making before you get emotional and throw out insults. And the other point I'm making is ONLY the IMAX theater I attended had metal detectors. There are over twenty other cinemas in that theater that didn't have metal detectors. Why put up metal detectors at all then? Especially when it prevents responsible armed citizens from trying to protect themselves and each other from psychopathic murderers that water at the mouth at the idea of unarmed victims.

I have watched your videos over the past few weeks, and this one made me decide that it's time to comment. This one was so powerful and deeply emotional for me. I was in Buffalo NY working the recovery program for an organization after an animal entered a supermarket in what he knew was a black neighborhood, killing 10 people and wounding three. I was at the courthouse today to submit my application for my WCL. Thank you for bringing awareness of so many things that need to be considered before responsible gun ownership and carry. I have yet to purchase my gun, but after seeing your videos, I have vowed that I will not consider carrying it until I have put a thousand rounds through it, and it's still up for discussion after that. Thanks again.

I just found this sobering, truth-based message just days after another tragedy in Nashville. And until "grownups" in every community heed this wise council we'll continue to see evil people prey on the most vulnerable in our society. Our corrupt government is not going to help solve this problem.

I was a high school senior the day Columbine happened. that day we had a schedualed newspaper reporte coming to our american Society class. Obviously, the topic went to school shootings very quickly, he asked us seniors what we thought about the horrible thing that happened that day in Colorado. my point of view was never published and it was simple: as long as you don't have punishment, you will have crime.

I believe the only problem with your point is many, who do such devilish deeds, don’t think far enough ahead to understand the implications. Or if they do they’ve already decided to commit suicide to which the implications mean nothing.

@@RADIOACTIVEBUNY if your willing to die for your crime, not much will stop you. BUT, if you think you can ICE a group and get away with it.... what's going to stop you? Can you name 1 school shooter who was executed? JUST ONE! There were school shootings 200 years ago, but, not many! Suppose they said there was NO punishment for bank robbery RIGHT NOW ON: You couldnt get to the bank in time to rob it, there were be a line of people out the door waiting to rob it! @Long Gone there will always be evil. If not a gun, drive a loaded dump truck through a school... how many die? A person doesn't snap 1 day, it takes time. And before they go 100% phycho, they might realize, IF I DO THAT, I WILL DIE. would it stop them? Maybe, but, the no punishment we have now, isn't working. Let's ban spoons because spoons made you fat... lets sue budweiser, because I drank beer, God drunk, slept with a hooked and got aids... lets sue Ford because a man stole a f150 and hit me. Chasing emotional trauma. How about some accountability? If you use a gun in a violent crime, your GIVEN A SWIFT TRIAL, AND A SWIFT EXECUTION.

Everybody wants to talk about what to do once someone starts opening fire, but no one wants to do anything about preventing it from happening in the first place. This video is another example of that. Until that changes, nothing changes.

3 9 year olds and 3 elderly folks would've seen March 28th if those two rounds of 5.56 had met that deluded, deranged coward at the door instead of 14 minutes later. The cops did everything right, I've honestly never been more proud of American officers than when I saw their actions in that footage, but they do not have access to mystical teleportation technology and cannot be everywhere at once, therefore it is imperative to take the safety of ourselves, our loved ones, and those around us into our own hands instead of living under the beautiful delusion that a man in uniform will step in to protect us from the ether at the precise instant required. If we as a society argue that teachers tasked with caring for our youth for the majority of the day from age 5-18, feeding them, protecting them, educating them, preparing them for the world, cannot also be trusted with the responsibility to carry a firearm, something any random citizen without violent felonies on their record can do by taking a few hour course and paying a small fee in every state in the country, then we collectively need our heads checked.
