Massad, my father purchased a small 22 caliber rifle for me and my older brother when I was 3 to 4 years old. We lived on a farm in Texas, and I was so small that I can still vividly recall my father leaning over me, helping me to hold that tiny little rifle... showing me how to hold it, how to aim it and fire the gun. He was also very strict about safety. As I grew up, my grandfather and uncles took me hunting every weekend. My grandfather taught me how to hold a gun with my finger off the trigger and the gun on safety while walking thru the countryside hunting for small game. He taught me how to walk behind the person in front of me so that my gun wasn't aimed at the backend of the person in front of me, to avoid accidently shooting my best friend(s). We later moved to Burbank, CA and there was an indoor rifle range in the local park. I used to walk down the busiest street in Burbank with my 22 rifle to the shooting range where I went thru gun safety courses and enjoyed target shooting. There is much more to this story. I have been shot twice by 'friends' I took hunting in the area just outside of Palmdale, CA. These 'friends' were raised in the city and had never shot guns in their lives. As a teenager, I didn't realize how dangerous they were with a gun in their hands, as I was very well trained in safety with guns and assumed that they had 'common sense'. One of the guys was walking behind me with his 22 rifle, finger on the trigger, fully loaded and ready to go. He tripped and the gun fired... the round hit a rock and ricocheted into the right cheek of my buttocks. I went to the doctor to have the bullet taken out. The 2nd time I was shot was in the same area, similar circumstance. Fast forward, I was in the 101st Airborne Division, FB Bastogne, Vietnam 69'. After a short time in country, I was almost killed by a fellow soldier who did something very foolish. I won't get into the detail here. I spent the next three months in a stateside military hospital and was honorably discharged. I am pro-gun. It is the person with the gun in their hands, not the gun. The guy that shot me first ended up in the Marine Corp in Vietnam. I only hope he learned something from the experience where he shot me accidentally, else he may have killed a few fellow soldiers. Thank you so much for your wisdom. Please continue publishing these 'lessons'. They are very valuable, especially in the 'fear-based' society we live in... Bye for now. PS - When I was in Vietnam, I sent my grandfather a letter and told him that if I survived Vietnam, it would NOT be what the army taught me, but would be mostly the result of how he taught me to hunt for game, especially being able to use what he referred to as 'soft-eyes' to see movement. Hooah!

Absolutely, could not agree with you more. You do not know how to respect fire it will burn you, you do not know how to respect the blade it will cut you, you do not know how to respect the water you will drown, you must posses the deep seated knowledge that you are handling something so powerful that it needs to have your utmost attention to be present with that power. I am pro-gun and also pro- mental health, stop putting gun into hands of people who physically and mentally are not able to handle a firearm. Not everyone can ride a motorcycle, same with firepower, not everyone can adeptly safely handle firearms. I am born and raised in the city and have been around firearms since I was around 14 and couldn't go shooting/hunting everyday, but I think it doesn't matter where you are raised, it matters if you are a natural born athlete, sports type active type person, and have a good trainer who puts safety first and instills ALL the RULES of Firearm Safety in ALL environments. Thank you for your service, BTW!

@Corno di Bassetto whether you are wrong, or right, what is clear is that Jefferson and Madison felt that the citizens did need to be as well armed as the government. So much so , that they didn't want the Federal government to have a standing army except during time of war. Madison was asked who are the militia. His response was the people except for certain politicians. During that time, regulated meant well trained. The founding fathers did not trust a big government.

This problem has been going on for years. Our government has been feeding this BS to taxpayers years. It's a very simple problem. It's poor choices. Look at what they serve up as candidates. Someone that talks with there hands, or someone that supports gun control. I don't know about the rest of the viewers out there. But I don't like either of the choices. My wife tells my that I should vote for the one I think is the least least of the worst. I give up, you serve my two plates of poop 💩. Which one should I eat, I don't want either one... When is our government going to start offering qualified candidates? Probably never, that's how they keep the circus 🎪 in motion. How many " shutdowns" can the US handle? If it were run like a business, and they tried to shut it down. They would all be fired. There needs to be a solution. Not a stand off. The problem is not the people, but who's in charge. 😬😬😬😬😬🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

@@ghostpepper7211 You are out of your mind. The entire point and purpose of the Second Amendment is to merely have the option of putting the government in its place, deposing it or abolishing it all together by merely exercising our will, but now things have changed. Before, the government couldn't effectively control a large population spread across a large distance, they lose their ability all together once forces are divided beyond what's absolutely necessary to just have order, let alone any other efforts, they lose. We now have massive cities, mini and micro cities, the suburbs which are all built upon the same principles fine tuned over the decades. The monopoly of force belongs with the people, regardless of their willingness to participate, even if they don't want the capability, they have the option. The playing field has too significantly shifted already, we the people must be able to drown the government in a bathtub, and if they can't, we're all doomed.

Conversely, an AR-15 based firearm is light, fast into action and can be handled or fired one-handed. It also penetrates common building materials far less than buckshot. Care much about shooting through a wall and killing someone across the hall? I sure do. So once again, your comments speak to ignorance and should be ignored by all.

@Whitpusmc
@Whitpusmc 3 жыл бұрын
@@Big_Herc This is factually incorrect. Shotguns have many limitations including limited ammunition capacity, significant recoil, difficulty adapting to smaller statured individuals, difficultly attaching things like lights which are required in a home defense firearm. An AR 15 has none of those limitations. Furthermore it can be made in a lightweight configuration, made adaptive to the smallest and the largest statured individuals in the family, and is highly accurate without the significant recoil even a 20 gauge let alone a 12 gauge shotgun has. Lastly, you might want to list your qualifications to make this judgement. The gentlemen in this video are legends in the firearms community and in Mas's case he wrote the book on many of these issues and is considered an expert on home defense in every state in the Union. If they say the AR-15 is a good home defense option, you should choose to listen.

That is their main advantage, something the politicians skip around, perhaps because they don't understand it. If you buy a Remington Model 700, you have potentially one rifle - a bolt action hunting rifle. If what you need is a short defensive rifle or some other kind of rifle, you have to buy it. A modular AR15 can be built or otherwise modified for many purposes or even calibers and optional parts can be added easily, usually without a gunsmith.. All you need is the parts and they can be sent directly to your home.

You know... kids now are growing up where guns are essentially a "taboo" thing. If they do happen to have a firearm in the house, more than likely it is hidden away/locked up and out of site and they have absolutely no interaction with them. When I was a kid.... Our guns was in a gun cabinet that had a glass window front and the ammo was in a drawer in the bottom of it. I was taught how to use it and used it.... one of best time of year was going to the range to sight them in before hunting season. If you didn't have your first "kill" by 10 years old, you were "odd". We had a toybox full of guns and we shot each other 500 times a DAY! And.... when the GUNS weren't enough, we used pine cones as HAND GRENADES! I can tell you the LAST thing on ANY of our minds was to go to the gun cabinet and remove one and take it to school and start shooting people..... In fact none of us would even think about taking a gun and doing anything with it.... We absolutely had open and free ACCESS to them.... the only thing deturing us from doing it was the ass whipping if dad found out.... Ya, I said ASS WHIPPING! (another thing that is seriously wrong with shit today... but that is a whole other thing alltogether). Kids now (I'm not saying EVERY kid, but in general) don't get that interraction with firearms. I live in a "gun rich" area of the country where every truck had a gun rack hanging in the back window with at least 1 rifle hanging on it.... sometimes 2 ..... and the only time you didn't see guns hanging on the rock in the window... is during hunting season when they all were out in the woods and not in town. Now days the only interaction with firearms kids get is in their shooter video games..... you know those things that they try to say are an "influence" that is a big factor in their decision to to be a "shooter"...... Well.... they are not ALL wrong about that because if it is their only interaction WITH a gun.... then you cannot say it DON'T influence their thoughts and ideology about them.... but those types of games are NOT the reason they get that ideology..... the lack of guidance and the lack of training.... and the lack of INTERACTION in "real life" is the KEY FACTOR in the end result.... not the kids shooting each other 500 times a day as the neighborhood gets invaded by the enemy EVERY DAY! (That was our 1st person shooter video game back then.... lol). Those kids that take a gun to school and do shit like that...... they have NO CONCEPT of the results of what they are doing.... or the aftermath of doing it..... because they have not been TAUGHT those things by the "taboo" ideology of the society that reared them. They find out and LEARN about those consequences after the fact.... after they take those actions.... It was fun in those games they played.... but the reality of it was never taught them.... the feeling when a life ends when that trigger is pulled.... The answer to ALL this bullshit is to enact a law requiring EVERY parent to teach the children about and how to use GUNS.... And if they don't have a gun or don't believe in owning one... then the nearest gun range will have available one for use, as long as you buy the ammo used.. just like parents have to buy the pencils/paper/supplies for the kids education in school.... the shells would be bought by them for their "lessons". Teach them the power of it, the RESPECT for it..... They say you cannot forget the past because if you do, you will repeat it..... we NEED to repeat this part of the "past".

A interesting comment on the AR-15 issue. Some time back, the Supreme Court ruled that it was perfectly lawful and not a violation of the 2nd Amendment to ban sawed off shotguns, because these weapons would not be useful to a militia. Assuming that this is correct and lawful, how could they logically (and lawfully) try to ban weapons built on the AR-15 platform when these weapons would be VERY useful to a civilian militia? Yet more proof that gun control is not a public safety issue, but is, in fact, a control issue.

I think your referring to the Miller ?1939? ruling dealing with a SBR. In Heller 2008, SCOTUS declared what would be covered under the 2A for the individual right. In common use, for lawful purposes. The reasoning behind that, was if they didn't, the NFA would be unconstitutional. If they tied it to the militia, then people could have military weapons, for military purposes. It was one or the other, so they went with individual right. Heller 2008 is why Dems now refer to AR's etc as weapons of war, or military style, assault weapons. If they can make those terms stick, then they would not be covered. State gun bans use assault weapon or assault firearm for this reason. State AG's claim large capacity magazines are for military purposes as one of the legal arguments to maintain bans of LCM's in court.

Not meant as a nitpick by any means, but any rifle or shotgun will kick the ever living tar out of someone if it doesn't fit them. I good example for this is a Lee-Enfield rifle. There are 3 separate lengths of buttstock for them.... because if it doesn't fit, it's very painful to shoot, ask me how I know. My oldest daughter asked to shoot it several years ago, and after a quick check of fit, I said no. She asked why, and I explained to her that it didn't fit her yet; shooting that rifle, in her case, would hurt her and give her a bad taste in her mouth about rifles. Now that she is older, most of my rifles will fit her.

@@DIVeltro true, but the recoil on the Lee-Enfield is drastically stronger than from a 556/223 AR. Ask me how I know. @@DIVeltro Not true at all. A 5.56/223 isn't going to kick the living tar out of anyone no matter how poorly it fits them. Or really even a .308. Conversely, if you step up to a 12ga or a rifle of a .300win mag or larger, not matter how well it fits, if you don't have the body mass to absorb the recoil, you're going to be at a severe disadvantage. An appropriately fitting firearm goes a long way, but it will never completely overcome Newton's third law.
