GR Yaris 1/4 mile UK record! Santa Pod drag racing test day.

Earlier this week we went to Santa Pod to do some testing on 2 of our own cars and 3 of our customers cars.
We took our BMW M4 G82 and Toyota GR Supra A90, both running in excess of 800bhp. 3 of our best customers came along, Pete's 630bhp Toyota GR Yaris, Andrews 612bhp Toyota GR Yaris and Lee's 700+bhp Toyota Supra Mk4.
Bad start to the day with the weather, we had hailstones, rain, 50mph wind and it was freezing! So we had very limited track running unfortunately, basically if a drop of rain falls on the track its closed and due to this we didn't get to run our M4 and Supra as we concentrated on our customer cars.
First off its worth mentioning Pete and Andrew have never been drag racing before and neither have the 2 GR Yaris' but that's what testing is all about, learning and setting up the cars to go faster. All 3 cars only managed 2 runs due to the weather which is really frustrating as all of them would gone a lot faster!
Andrew's GR Yaris which is famously known as grippy did an amazing time of 10.9 1/4 mile which is the fastest GR Yaris in the UK and the 4th fastest in the world! This was all done with a terrible launch with the car in front wheel drive biased mode hindering grip and it wasn't running full power. We think a low 10 second 1/4 mile should be on the cards with some more testing.
Pete's GR Yaris did a 1/4 mile time of 11.3 which again was pretty good as he too was in front wheel drive biased mode so less grip off the line and not running full power either. This will do a mid 10 sec 1/4 mile once the driver and car is dialled in.
Lee's Toyota Supra Mk4 did a personal best of 11.2 seconds, the last time this car was timed over the 1/4 it did an 11.6 1/4 so a nice improvement there. And all we've done since last time is fit some Mickey Thompson drag street tyres but as you'll see from the video on our KZbin channel there's a lot of time to be made up on the launch, we think a mid 10 second 1/4 mile will easily be achievable with some more testing.

Love the way it whipped that very dragster looking Beetle! Easyily beat it too considering how the VW leapt ahead at the start (all that weight in the back over the driven wheels of the VW is an advantage for once)

The only part that hasnt been modded are the brakes, thats how powerful they come stock

Finally some track numbers from a ZF8 MKIV Supra! Thank you! I want more! But.. WTF tires are you running? 19s?? Don't waste your time running anything but drag radials at a 1/4 mile track. I want to see a transbrake launch on drag radials before I make this trans swap to get get a fair comparison. As is... mine and other's Supras on original old stock turbos are quicker.

19” street tyres yes, it’s a daily driven car this one but we are planning on putting some proper drag tyres on it at some point to see what it will do.

@@Whifbitz Great! Daily driven or not, swapping rear wheels to ones with drag radials is super easy and a no-brainer at the drag strip. Otherwise you just spin and the times suck.
