Brilliant upload, love it when I see whole programmes like this, don't know why ITV or BBC don't have their own you tube channels and show classic Big Match/MOTD episodes, pretty certain it would be very popular

What a game! A perfect answer to anyone who queries why I think football was better in the 70s than it is now. No play acting, few fouls, no tippy tappy playing from the back rubbish, just all out end to end attacking football. Notice that even when play was stopped, no player kicked the ball away! In fact they even retrieved it and threw it back to either the keeper or the free kick taker! When was the last time you saw that happen these days?

Football now has turned into a no contact sport.v.a.r. has ruined it and POLITICS has infiltrated football to the point that it is no longer for the working class it's become corporate for the rich and sold its soul to the global elites...sad....

Nice bit of slow mo action of Stevie Highway at the intro. What an exciting winger he was

Agreed what a player Highway was.

Jack Taylor - what a haircut. Brylcreem galore. Proper ref.
@seltaeb33022 жыл бұрын
He was a policeman & no player harangued Jack & any stupid pitch invader got marched off the field. He was a fair & overall a good Ref but he's not perfect as we see here.

No it's not just you, football was better generally before the corporate / sky sports take over. It used to be for the fans, now they don't even need us at the grounds. Stay home, stay safe, pay your subscription and protect the uber rich 😷

I loved watching the Kick Off review [in the Granada region] on Friday Night and Kick Off Matches on Sunday afternoon's it was a focus on the North West Teams [and lower divisions] ... here is a question, when did those two programmes stop ... was it the mid 80s.
@scherben88708 жыл бұрын
Kick Off highlights ended 1980. Kick Off preview was revived in the late 80s, but finished 1989, I think.

scherben, I definitely remember watching Kick Off (the football highlights programme) on Sunday afternoons in the early to mid 1980s, I agree with your comment on Kick Off (the football revue programme) on Friday evenings i e the late 1980s.

@@darren2514fv I think all the regional ITV highlights programmes ended in 1983 with ITV then focusing on showing the "live" matches which were introduced from the 1983-1984 season.

Ref Jack Taylor frog marches a Utd loon off the pitch & then disallows a good Leicester goal & the City players didn't protest vehemently & why? Well Jack's day job was a policeman of the old school & no player however famous or hard nut would ever cross Jack Taylor on the football field, they all respected his good refereeing & any rare bad calls.
