Video ideas: • make a three course meal from your pantry 2 • have your family pick a couple of ingredients and make something from that • review boxed cake or brownie mixes to see which one is the best • try only indian or pakistani recipes for a day (please please make authentic ones; i’m sure most of your subscribers like me will come through) • try eating like chloe or your mum for a day • have a family member pick each meal ( like your mum picks brekkie and dad picks dinner) • eat like any influencer for a day • make famous recipes from the gbbo • try making only a certain chef’s recipes for a day or disney ones like inga • make your mum’s or dad’s dream cake • ask your family to pick a flavour, a texture and a baked good, decorations and make something using that info ( like cherry and chocolate fudgy brownies decorated with white choc)

Strangest part was the trip to the loos: they are RIDICULOUS. Never had a more lavish toilet experience. Would recommend just for that.

Hi Gracie. The best afternoon tea I have been to recently was at Mitton Hall, near Whalley, Lancashire (bit too far for you to travel?) Mitton Hall is a fourteenth century hall in the countryside about half an hour north west into Lancashire from Manchester, where I live. It is so steeped in history, with its large oak panelled baronial hall, with a huge roaring fire most days, that they could feed you cornflakes and you would still have a great time there. (See pictures on their website) I have stayed a few times for a short break and they have always updated me to a suite of rooms with a four poster bed. I took one of my sons and his wife for an afternoon tea and we were well served with a lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes etc. If you were up in this neck of the woods, covid allowing, I would be happy to take you to try it. The loos are spotless as well. Cheers.

When I was in Denver we went to a place that served tea. Small sandwiches ect but I'm sure its nothing like the U.K. so tea is considered a snack not a meal like lunch or supper? I've heard of high tea also. What is that? I'm so curious 😊
@jbkid64 жыл бұрын
April city girl to country wife afternoon tea is definitely something you would have for lunch as it’s a full selection of sandwiches and cakes. A high tea is fish(battered or breaded), chips, bread with butter and a cup of tea. This would usually be a meal for dinner Time
@charlotteharden91624 жыл бұрын
Afternoon tea was traditionally served to bridge the long gap between lunch and dinner. It would usually consist of dainty sandwiches (white bread with the crusts cut off, sometimes just cucumber as the filling) small, exquisite cakes, and sometimes scones with clotted cream and jam. Now, the traditional afternoon tea is just seen as a treat, or a cup of tea and small snack (crumpet, biscuit, cake) in the afternoon. High tea was a late meal served after work and was traditionally hearty and filling (meat and potatoes stew, or bread, ham and cheese for example). In the North of England, some people call lunch (mid-day meal) ‘dinner’ and the evening meal ‘tea’. Some people think only lower class people call the meals as such but really it is quite common. I am from the UK and Northern so some people may disagree but this is what a food historian would suggest.
@Nettietwixt4 жыл бұрын
High tea was/is basically just the normal evening meal after work. It's much more substantial than afternoon tea which is more of a treat for better off people. Lots of people still call their evening meal tea, I use tea and dinner interchangeably. The high just got added to show it wasn't afternoon tea. We had high regularly tea as kids but the way my parents did it wasn't quite a heavy dinner. It would be things like sandwiches, pickles, sausage rolls, salad, eggs, cold meat and Victoria sponge or scones. A bit more substantial than afternoon tea.

The literally had some fancy tea cup that fit the shape of your hand and how your fingers slant but they only had right handed ones and I couldn't hold it in my left hand as it didn't fit that way and was super uncomfortable. I honestly couldn't believe it, we spoke to the staff and they didn't have a single left handed mug, the fact that there are also some left handed people in the world was completely overlooked.

I am having issues with dairy but I also have serious issues with the vegan alternatives. I am so happy I don’t have issues with meat or most cooked vegetables. The dairy free milks make me nauseous and so does the cheese.

Back in 2011 I had afternoon tea at Claridge’s and it was exquisite. They gave us little tins of loose leaf house blend tea to take home. Pity they got destroyed in the suitcase on the train back to Scotland because the tea was lush.

I am loving the fact that you call it afternoon tea. Across the pond, the Netherlands, we call it high tea 😂

About 55 years ago My Mum and I went to London for a week We went to a different hotel everyday for A/T The best was the Ritz. 3 years ago it was the Goring. Harrods was Ok but not the ambience. Best afternoon tea was in Bath at a tea room there for 20 pounds. Nothing like A/T for me On my Holidays

What a lovely trip to do with your mother! : - ) I also love to do afternoon tea when I travel. Would you mind sharing the name of the place you loved in Bath? - My current favorite tea spot is a cozy and quirkly little tea room in San Francisco called Lovejoy's. It's not fancy but I find their menu delicious! ❤🫖❤

@@bellaluce7088 Thanks will go to Lovejoys next time I m in San Fran. My Choice would Be THE IVY Its elegant and has a Modern Twist to afternoon Tea. And NO visit to Bath would be taken without going to Sally Lund's [the oldest tea room in Bath} It also has a bit of a Museum attached to it . Happy Tea searching

I suggest you try High Tea at the Grand Café in Oxford. It’s the site of the first coffee house in the UK and lots of gold leaf everywhere

Did you hear about that big fire at the grain warehouse in the UK? It took out all of the food that supplies the south eastern part of England. I know I’ve got food storage on my property here in America.
