Amazing story of rescue by men who chose to go through the most intense training, never looking for recognition or praise. They are just serving their country by doing their job. Selfless. God bless them and protect them.

Just so you know, Jessica has spent the years since her rescue trying to repay the Seals by giving speeches and raising money to help support family members of Seals who have died or been seriously wounded on duty. And she has talked openly about the years of therapy she's needed to overcome the horrors and stress of her captivity. The Danish hostage was also rescued by the Seals. As the 60 Minutes interviewer said, "The only thing left at the camp were nine dead bandits."

Howdy from Texas! As a former building inspector for a small Texas town. I was amazed at the complexity of what you two described just to be able to hire someone to redo your residential electrical wiring. When I was the head and sole employee of the building department of the town. All that was needed was a master electrician who's credentials were on file with my office, or could produce the proper credentials, to submit a blueprint with an explanation of everything that they were planning to do . Then once I had a chance to review the plans and have a meeting with the master electrician. Unless there was something that they needed to correct, a permit was paid for by the contractor and issued by me. Then there were different stages of their work that required physical inspections by me prior to them being allowed to proceed. And then once completed there was a final inspection and either a green tag was presented to the contractor, meaning everything was found to be correct and within the national electrical codes. Or a red tag meaning that there were some issues that needed correcting before the new electrical wiring could be energized. . No approval by anyone else besides the city inspector. No Mayor or City Manager, or neighbors approval needed.

For those who keep bringing this up. 60 Minutes broadcast two versions of this story approximately one year apart. The original version was longer and had more detail. When they repeated the story the next year, they trimmed it down so they could squeeze more stories into the same one-hour program. The video we saw here was the repeat version and thus, some details -- such as the fate of Jessica's Danish coworker -- were left out of this video.

She was just an aid worker y'all. We believe in "All for one, and one for all !" That's what my veteran daddy taught me my entire life. It's served me well over 51 years. We, as a nation are fine with sending, and spending, whatever it takes to bring one person home. It's drilled into us from an early age here. I understand why people from other places find it strange, or even unbelievable. It's not what they are taught, so it seems odd. To most of us, well at least from about the age of 35 and older, that is ingrained into us from before elementary school in most cases. It continues as you go through school, especially if you play sports. I played football from primary school till the end of high school. We lived it. We were a team on and off the field. Someone messes with one, they get us all. That was true from just normal stuff at school, to cruising the weekend hangout and a fight breaks out, we see it, we're in it. In fact, if our coaches ever heard anything otherwise, we would regret it on the next day of practice. That continues on once you leave too. The people I work with, I have no problem saying I love them, their my brothers, and I'd take a bullet right no for them without a moment's hesitation. So, imagine what lengths we will go to for our families. I don't know if I find it more odd or sad that the rest of the world is not this way. Look, I don't really know you guys other than watching these videos, but I know enough for me. If ever in that position, I'd do the same for all four of you. When we see a wrong, we want to right it. I guess that's what it boils down to. As the son of a vet, and many others of my family members have served back to the Revolutionary War, I was just taught that there's nothing better, nothing more noble, nothing more honorable I could do with my life than to lay it down for my family, friends, nation, or fellow man. I just wish more people felt the same now days. I'm just out of place and out of time I guess. There's another version of this that's a bit longer. Like others have said, the news host says that later on, the Danish aid worker said his lucky break was being captured with an American, as the SEALS got him out too! They also cover the fact that she said she didn't want to die yet because she had never had children. They let you know that she's fixed that problem since and show a picture of her, her husband and their baby.

Justin K. Sheffield was a leader of this squad. He's since retired and written a couple books about his service. I believe the US military doesn't even acknowledge the existance of Seal Team 6. The even numbered squads are based in Virginia, the odd numbered squads from California. They skydived in from 20,000 feet and walked the final few miles to the camp. Using night vision they were able to get very close to the kidnappers. The Seals pointed their infared lasers at the kidnappers. Without night vision the kidnappers never even saw the multiple lasers that targeted them.

"How did they know where she was?" I'll answer that with a rhetorical question. Have you seen the American defense budget? "What happened to the guy who was with her?" He was lucky enough to be kidnapped with an American. He went home too. I don't remember the actual numbers, but this rescue cost exponentially more than what the ransom was. It wasn't about the money. It was about making a point. That point... America will spend/use whatever money and resources that are necessary to cancel your subscription to breathing and rescue a kidnapped American. The only ransom you get from an American hostage comes as chunks of lead and brass at approximately 3,000 fps. The exact amount you get is up to you, but it will absolutely be a lifetime supply.
