I remember an all star game (1969-70) I think, when Jerry dominated play (unintentionally) and won MVP of the game he nailed a 3/4 court length shot. A childhood memory of his greatness on the round ball court 🏀

Graham you get the most incredible guests. I can see why you ask great questions & actually let ur subjects give a long insightful answer w/o interrupting them. The interviewers today want to be the stars. A Howard stern claims so often he is the greatest interview is laughable. He interrupts & only asks questions that interest him or are projections about himself. I know joe Rogan is such a popular guy but he goes in very odd directions that have nothing to do with anything. For example he had on mike tyson & suddenly joe went on this wierd tangent about how justin bieber at that time got tons of p"ssy & went on & on to tyson about " imagine how crazy that must be for him.having girls just throw themselves at him. " random. Then tyson said sarcastically " poor justin. How awful to have tons of girls want you " it's amazing u get these incredible guests & they are just on ur yt channel right? I think thats incredible & ur not doing it at 20/20 or something. Major prospers to u ! Onto magic how incredible when jabar got hurt he played center & won a title like his rookie year. That's just amazing. To have a guy that can play all 5 positions & could score rebound & pass as good as bird. Bird probably could have played 4 positions. Pippen Is another guy that could play 3 or 4 positions except center bc he was not tall enough. I'm not sure if he is as tall as magic.

Well, back in the 80s hiv and aids research was at its infancy. Most people died within a decade. Magic was blessed with wealth and good health, so he was not as susceptible as most people who caught the bug. Fast forward to the late 90s they developed drugs that supress the virus and he will probably survive longer than most players from his era.

Magic would’ve had more than 5 rings had he not retired early! Remember, in 1984 when he lost to Larry and the Celtics, he came back with a vengeance to defeat Boston and Bird in 1985! You KNOW that in 1992 he would’ve wanted to avenge his 1991 loss to Michael Jordan and the Bulls! AND YES… The Lakers could beat the Bulls! Remember, by the end of The 91 Finals, both James Worthy and Byron Scott were both out with injuries. Had it been reversed with Worthy and Scott healthy, but rather Pippen and Paxson injured, the Lakers would’ve won hands down! The 1992 Finals would’ve been…… (MAGIC VS MICHAEL II in ‘92)

I watched the “Winning Time” on HBO too. But if you really pay attention, at the end it also states that the writers took some artistic license and embellished the actual story. @f430ferrari5
@f430ferrari5 2 жыл бұрын
@@milesmayhem5440 I never watched winning time but I grew up a big Laker and Magic fan. I’m past my mid 50’s. I have a couple of books about Magic Johnson. Most know about Magic’s book My Life. This came out after his HIV announcement. There was a paperback and it of course focused more on his early years. It is true Jerry West wanted Sidney Moncrief but a book can’t capture if he was really animated about it. It was never portrayed that way in the book of course. I do recall more just the logic and theme of that the Lakers already had a PG in Norm Nixon and West thought Moncrief played better defense. That was about it. As Magic blossomed I think West himself realized he made a mistake and Buss maybe over exaggerated “his” choice. Maybe West learned it’s not about finding all the right pieces by position in his young GM days but realizing just take the best player available or that has the intense work habits and can blossom into a super star aka Kobe Bryant despite having Eddie Jones. West was not perfect. Elden Campbell was talented but he didn’t have the best work ethic. West was never really given the credit he deserved in building championship teams. He should have been paid more.
