Panasonic just recently released an upgrade to this model, the FZ80D. so I'm keeping an eye on this machine. The only issue I have right now is the video distortion issue that occurs when moving the camera as mentioned in this video. The application I'm going to use it for is shooting concerts. Of course, I will be using a tripod and head. However, I'm still a little concerned about the distortion of the recorded video when I move the camera according to the position of the actor's movement. I would like to know how long it takes for the distortion of the image to recover if the camera has stopped moving with a tripod and head in use? (i.e. stop distorting)

Hello Graham, what is the difference between the Creative Video mode you show in this video and the 4K Photo mode? In both cases I can set the shutter speed and the aperture. And in both cases I end up with an mp4 file including recorded sound. I know I can extract photos from the 4K Photo mp4, but I can also do that with the video mp4. So what is the difference?

Your video tutorials are just awesome, Graham. Please keep them coming. I watched the "Using Back Button Focus on Panasonic cameras" yesterday. Thank you so much for explaining that. Recently purchased the FZ300 after a toss-up between that and the FZ80 although still some time to get my hands on it. If I am able to order the FZ-300 B/W manual book from Amazon, what is the difference between the free color PDF that you so kindly send versus the PDF available from your blog site for GBP 7.5? If they are the same, I can just pay for that and download it. (If the book color PDF is more user-friendly, then will buy the B/W book from Amazon.)

The PDF on my blog is the same one that is issued to anyone purchasing the colour or B&W books from Amazon. The PDF allows much faster searching etx and is probably the most cost effective route.

Another fantastic video and just great to watch - have you ever tried the Sony rx10 4? My mate has one and we compared my fx300 with IHT taking similar pictures of birds - variable results some the fx300 was best done the Sony - any ideas why ?

Yes I have the RX10 mkIV. Both have 600mm EFL zoom but the Sony has a 1 inch sensor compared to the 1-2/3 inch of the FZ300 so in low light the Sony may show better images but when used at the F2.8 aperture the fZ300 can claw back this advantage

I have no inside information but the Main focus At Panasonic is full frame cameras so I guess the answer is probably none on the r&d front

No I stopped buying the Panasonic travel zooms after the TZ80 as too much dust on the sensor was being reported and Panasonic not cleaning under warranty.

@@GrahamHoughton12 Many months after buying (and lugging around) an FZ300 to replace my down but not quite out FZ200, I was trying to recall why I didn't just get a similar-specs Lumix compact -- I don't particularly need the faster lens. I am now reminded why that was!
