The rectors of the Grand Mosque of Paris and Grand Mosque of Lyon, alongside others, called for “national unity” against the far right in France on Wednesday. They urged voters to go to the ballot boxes on Saturday to prevent the far right winning the elections, after the National Rally (RN) party of Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella led with 33 percent of the vote in the first round of the elections on Sunday.
Chems-eddine Hafiz, the rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris, also highlighted the ties between France’s Muslim and Jewish communities and said attempts to set the two against each other are “unacceptable”.
