the low resolution of the PS1 kinda helps this game. It makes the cars and people actually look 3D.

The "respect system" was done to encourage multiple playthrough and possibilities, just getting a piece of the pie and not gorge the whole thing. Though my big gripe is the lack of a Map, even without a mini map, a pause map will be greatly appreciated, the arrow map is just BAD

Millenials will never understand how much funny these first three games were to play as a 90's child even before GTA 3 & 3D games changed everything 😂 they were cool but nothing like playing the first three games as a 90's child , the 2D pixel graphics & simplicity was perfect , u didn't need the million other things that came wit GTA3 & everything afterwards , ppl think because a game looks better & u can actually do way more in it actually makes it better but it doesn't!!!!! GTA 3 was good , GTA vice City was ok , GTA San Andreas was good but got boring after awhile , GTA4 was actually the best out of the 3D versions & GTA 5 was just lame asf especially if u weren't playing on line😂💯 the first 3 games on the other hand were absolutely perfect & u didn't have any high expectations because these games were literally everything they should be as a video game & thats just being a game to kill the time & put a smile on ur face!!!! Young folks will never understand & i honestly feel extremely sorry for them because the 90's was the best time era to live in , we had the best music , best laws , best way of life without cellphones controlling humanity ,we had absolutely no annoying tik tokers or annoying as Facebookers or any idiots that could hide behind a computer & talk shit to us ...u literally had to meet us in person & get ur ass whooped & feel what real life actually feels like!!!! Nobody felt over privileged back in thise days everyone had to live in the same exact world hence why 99% of humans want to go back to those times even the privileged entitled spoiled lil brats that were born after the 90's

I recommend playing PC version instead. Gamepad can be mapped similar to the PS1 setup but not all the buttons are supported for some reason. PC version is better with more stuff on the streets and higher resolution.

PC also had time changes from night and day. PS1 = day and Dreamcast = night exclusively.

It's the select button or the up button on the directional pad for the Playstation. However, you can't change the radio station on the Dreamcast edition. Dreamcast and PC of GTA II are identical. Playstation's version was very limited on graphics.
