Excellent comparison ! The A52 produces some nice pictures, but for now, the Pixel 4A is (still) my preferred phone.....waiting on the 6 with zoom, zoom, zoom :-)

The Pixel did a better job however I am truly impressed with the A52 5G. This thing is a beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although, the facial smoothing at the beginning could be a problem from some it actually can be used to someone's advantage at times. Great comparsion as always Grant!

@@MzwandileHarmans post processing is not about telephoto (btw 2x digi zoom is phenomenal here) or detailing capabilities. None of midrange phones can shot like pixel and most chinese flagships does also worse. 4A 5G isn't the sharpest low light camera but it's good for it's price even now and gives you great color accuracy which is more important than megapixels and telescopes. This is true midrange king with the best daylight photos between any android smartphone. Software is everything.

I had Samsung phones since forever, but i now switched to 4a 5g and its really phenomenal. Cameras are much better than a series Samsung, and Android 12 on pixel is even comparable to Samsungs beautiful UI. I think Google is onto something good.

Samsung needs to add stabilisation onto the 4K video recording. Not sure if it will be supported with Open Camera.

It was actually closer then I thought for photos. Often I'd prefer the darker photos captured by the pixel,l especially with flows but then in some landscapes the more exposed photos of theA52 didn't look as dark and were more pleasing. Generally felt night mode went to A52 and so did ultra wide angle. Pixel wins in 4k video, although apart of that is the fact the A52 doesn't have any EIS for whatever reason, believe they'll add this in an update but who knows. I'd give pixel the win, because daylight photos matter most but seems A52 is a bit more versatile, especially if it's the A72 which has a 3x optical. Software is king

Hi Grant. Nice comparison over these smartphones. Thanks for composing it. May I ask what the Pixel 4a's video recorder's audio bitrate recording? (You can check it thru your the recorded videos downloaded on your laptop/computer by clicking properties). I understand that the A52 is 290 - 320 kbps. But what about the Pixel 4a's? Thank you.

FYI, I use 4a 5G record 10s video, no matter 1080p 30/60fps or 4k 30/60fps, their audio Bitrate are 192kbps.

This is a nice comparison. My 4a 5g had to be returned after a system update caused it to glitch. Now I have the A52 5g. The back camera takes beautiful pics. The front facing camera is not that great. The colors and skin tones are washed out. I kinda miss that pixel now.

The Pixel 4a 5G truly is the better choice over the Galaxy A52. Better camera, more premium software, more useful features that you don't find on Galaxy phones. It's a win win. Maybe next year Samsung with the A53?

Because the video is exported at 30fps, so you wouldn't see it at full frame rate. Mixing fps usually isn't a good idea if you want to show the actual frame rates. Wtf. 😉
