"Debuting along with Terrapin Station on 2/26/77, Estimated Prophet was a staple of second sets from mid-1977 onward, with its open-ended closing jam often leading to Eyes Of The World, He's Gone, Terrapin Station, or as was the case on July 7, 1989, Standing On The Moon." - David Lemieux

Don’t get me started on the loss of Jerry 😢 but also Brent! Watching this makes me feel sad for him. So young and such a talent & great addition. Saw them 15 times from 1980 to 1985. Took a break after that but once a deadhead always a deadhead 😊 love 💗 watching these shows I missed thx!

Got to see them live only once, but many different videos here on YT. Their concerts could be summed up in two words: "laid back". The band, the crowds, everything. And the show was one looonnnnggg jam session built on a song that seemed to transform from one to another. Easiest going band in the world. Love it.

All correct 👆. But the videos on KZbin are almost all from the later periods of their career, when their sound/style had become more refined. If you listen to the shows from ‘67-‘69…they were fearless, ferocious, acid fueled assaults! All part of the long strange trip. I’m a ‘72-‘73 kinda guy myself : )

@@jazzzman8050 me too, in the early 70s they were branching out into Americana/Roots, which is the GD I like best. Saw them twice in '73, first in Baltimore & second in DC at a weekend show with the Allman Bros. Great that more and more of their shows are being released !

This show stands out as one of my favorites! Not only was it close to home, but it marked the end of an era for JFK stadium! The day was just as HOT as the show was itself, truly a gem for that tour! Just a year earlier, Pink Floyd had launched it's world tour for A Momentary Lapse of Reason album release at JFK also! I saw some fantastic bands play in JFK and it was always a great time even though the stadium smelled like1,000 gallons of rat urine!

Yeah, they allowed free taping of shows, the cassettes you got after the shows in the parking lot, free trades of live shows on cassettes and some one takes it upon themselves to make a vault of locked in unattainable shows that come out only when they feel like it. Bogus BS shout-out to Lemieux. Reminds me of the Daffy Duck cartoon when Daffy gets into the mountain with the riches - " Down down No no no Mine Mine Mine". Except the Duck was funny. Lemieux, at best when ignored.

@@paulfarrehi4200 Nobody has the show for February 1985 at The Meadowlands, either. They have the show after that at Nassau Coliseum but no show for February 1985 at The Meadowlands. Garcia broke out She Belongs To Me, solo, first time and nobody has it. Maybe 1967 is rarer and the film, over the years - there are many possibilities. But not half as many excuses for not having February 1985.

Awsome! Nothing, but awsome! Loved it. Bobby Weir "The Other One" in the group. Always liked the 'Terrapin' album. Didn't think much of the "Dancing in the Streets", cover. Sounds like an interesting version of the song to anyone not familiar with the Dead, yet, if you are familiar, not the best they've done, to say the least...

I once read that when Phil was using Modulus basses that Modulus custom made the playing length to the standard 34 inches for his his six string basses instead of the usual 35 inch length from bridge to nut. Whatever the case, Phil always gets a great tone from every bass that he has used.
