The leaders of Bethel Church in Redding, California are known for cultivating a culture of spiritual experimentation and risk-taking. One experiment involved certain leaders and students visiting the burial sites of old Pentecostal heroes.
Trips were made to the resting places of Kathryn Kuhlman, Smith Wigglesworth, and other famous “generals” to seek a transference of their anointing for miracles. Concerned critics have labeled the practice as “grave-soaking” or “grave-sucking”. A controversy was ignited after photos and videos of the practice began to circulate online. Today, you can’t read an article about Bethel Church without seeing mention of grave-soaking.
What was the origin of this experiment? Is there Biblical support for it? Is it only a fringe practice that “heresy hunters” have blown out of proportion? Has there been genuine repentance on the part of the leadership for allowing and encouraging this trend?
These episodes (Grave Soaking & The House of Generals) provide an in-depth investigation into the facts, including eyewitness testimony, an evaluation of recent attempts to downplay the situation by the leaders of Bethel, and a look at the overall culture that made this possible.
Most importantly, Biblical teaching and correction will be offered on the subject of “anointing”. The truth of what Christ has done in the Gospel shines in beautiful contrast against the distortions made by those who are earnestly seeking miraculous power.

I think we should shift our focus when talking about the charismatic/New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement. Instead of just repeating old issues like grave soaking or singling out specific groups like Bethel, we should dig into the deeper issues. We need to look closely at how the movement operates, focusing more on the deception, emotional manipulation and other tactics that they use. The goal here should be to identify the wider doctrinal abuses within the movement and examine them under the lens of scripture, which is what "American Gospel" is all about. A multitude of demonic false practices can be exposed. This is crucial, especially since the younger generations are falling for the NAR in droves. With the influence of social media, NAR ideology is becoming mainstream. We need to make sure they understand the potential problems and keep our focus on the true teachings of the gospel.

I totally agree. The decreein, declaring stuff, the blasphemy, tongues, the 5 fold ministry, dream interpretations, numerology. Some are so fixated on numbers. Its a sign of this and a sign of that...Signs and miracles and always basing their faith on experiences.

Grave soaking is Major Doctrinal Issue- it’s Necromancy- absolutely forbidden in the OT and NT - its paganism. MAJOR ISSUE. Twisted scripture of mantles of Elijah. ITS GOD who anoints not dead people.

Looking forward to the full version. Pretty familiar with grave soaking but having a video on this will be helpful and educational. It should help those who are decieved within the false churches to see it is happening and why it's bad.

Most of American Gospel productions are behind a paywall. This can be appicable in America, but does a diaservice to poor Christians in not-so-privileged countries or non-believers around the world who can also benefit from biblical Christian content. I think the gospel should be driven by donations and made availabe for free, rather than putting up a paywall like secular streaming platforms.

What you're describing is ideal, but we can't accept donations because we are not a non-profit. Also, the content can be viewed for free with the 3-day free trial. And please understand that this does not enrich us; there are many costs related to producing content like this, hosting a streaming service, paying other people to license their content, etc. $5.99 a month helps us support all of the above.

Can you kindly please explain why someone like me who pays their $5.99 per month to have access to AGTV cannot, as of from today, view American Gospel 3 episodes Grave Soaking and House of Generals that were briefly available? Why did they disappear? I pay for access to new American Gospel 3 content but now I can no longer access it. So why should I continue paying?

From the beginning, we announced that they were only going to be available for a week as a preview. There are multiple reasons for this, but it comes down to the fact that the series is not finished (changes will still be made), there are legal reviews that have to be done (fair use), before anything is publicly accessible to buy or own. The final reason has to do with costs. Normally when films are first released they are only available to buy (companies that invest in films need to recoup their losses in production costs), followed by renting, then streaming. In this case, we released two episodes which were equivalent to a film, where anyone could access them for free if they wanted (with the free trial). If they were to remain there that way, it would be a huge loss for us (in our ability to recoup what we invested into it), making us unable to finish the series. If you subscribe to AGTV, there are many other films and series you have access to. You also are supporting our ability to finish other episodes in the project with your subscription (which could be made available for preview as well).

False teaching creates the division. Speaking against false teaching is not divisive or a waste of time-- it's a biblical command. Spending time defending against false accusations is also not a waste of time.
