Losing weight and burning fat can be very challenging, and it's especially hard to stick it out if you don't see quick wins in the form of results either in the mirror or at least on the scale. Luckily there are simple and effective ways to significantly speed up this process. Whether it's changing your diet, increasing your physical activity, or making small lifestyle changes, there are many options available to help boost your metabolism and get your body burning fat more efficiently. So today I want to go over 10 simple ways to speed up your fat loss, and each one is backed by scientific evidence proven to be effective at helping people lose weight and burn fat.
And first I want to start with a technique that many of you have never heard of known as A protein-sparing modified fast or PSMF in short. This is a weight loss approach designed to get lean as fast as possible. It accomplishes this by putting you through a low-carb, low-fat, high-protein diet that restricts calorie intake to a minimal level. The PSMF diet typically only includes lean protein sources such as chicken, fish, and turkey, as well as low-carb vegetables like spinach, broccoli, and cauliflower. Other foods are avoided. Now, before you go ahead and implement this strategy, I would only do this if you have a body fat percentage over 26 percent as a male and 39 percent as a female. In those scenarios, you can implement a PSMF for two weeks on, and then take two weeks off where you bring your calories back to maintenance with a more even distribution of protein carbs and fats, just make sure you're not exceeding maintenance calories. four to twelve. weeks without risking muscle loss as long as you get enough protein and are also lifting weights. Also if you’re leaner than 26 percent body fat as a man and 39 percent as a woman, I wouldn’t implement it on a consistent schedule. Instead, just follow a protein-sparing modified fast diet one or two non-consecutive days per week where you eat according to the PSMF guidelines. You want to try to do this on days that you’re not exercising because your body doesn’t need the additional calories on those days. Simply only consume lean protein sources and avoid all other foods. Make sure to get at least .73 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day while following this schedule. Even though following this kind of eating style can be challenging, when it's done right, it’s one of the, if not the, fastest ways to lose weight while retaining muscle mass.
Another strategy instead of a protein-sparing modified fast is to simply do a more aggressive cut. In other words, you increase your calorie deficit. Keep in mind that once again your current level of body fat determines how much more aggressively you can cut your calories back without losing muscle and if you don't know your body fat percentage just stick with me I'll show an easy way to figure it out. So If you're a male with over 26% body fat or a female with over 39% body fat, you can shoot for a calorie deficit of 40-50% under maintenance calories. If you're a man with between 21 and 26% body fat or a female with between 33 to 39% body fat, you shouldn't create more of a calorie deficit than 30 to 40% below maintenance. If you're 14 to 21% body fat as a man or 24 to 33% body fat as a woman, go for a calorie deficit of 20-30% under maintenance. And finally, if you're 10 to 14% body fat as a man 14 to 24% as a woman you can go for a calorie deficit between 5 to 20%. (**)
Even with these more aggressive deficit numbers, you shouldn't worry about losing muscle. As long as you're getting enough protein, lifting weights, and getting enough sleep, the amount of muscle you'll lose should be minimal. For example, in a study where men and women were placed on an 800-calorie-per-day diet for 12 weeks, they managed to still maintain their muscle mass as long as they were weight training 3 times a week. (1) Also, In another study, obese men were instructed to eat 1,000 fewer calories per day while lifting weights 3 days a week and they were able to maintain their muscle mass while dropping over 20 pounds of fat. (2)
This actually brings us to my next point. You should primarily focus your workouts on strength training and muscle growth because that'll help you maintain muscle mass as you drop body fat. Maintaining muscle mass is not only beneficial from an aesthetic perspective, but also from a long-term weight loss perspective because carrying more muscle will improve your metabolism and insulin sensitivity. Now aside from eating enough protein, the best way to prevent muscle loss while dieting is to make sure that you...

Not all cycling is equal: I ride a mountain bike in the mountains three days per week. It's more of a HIIT workout than it is a low impact passive activity. I do get the low impact passive activity advice though; I walk at least two miles per day at work on my breaks just to get away from my desk. It's really helpful to keep the blood moving and keep me more alert.

I already do the PSMF diet without knowing it had a name! I do this one day a week, and so far, it has helped me control middle-age spread. Been doing this for a few years, as the phase 4 of the Dukan diet (a controversial diet, so I'm not recommending it, especially for significant weight loss-i only had 5 kg to lose). Anyway,v the PSMF approach is interesting!

Been a long time since we had a weight loss video on the channel, thank you so much for this! I definitely have a sweet tooth, so what is working for me is dried fruit, especially dates, it's great to eat a piece as your drink your tea or coffee without sugar. Honey also helps, and berries too, sometimes I will have a fruit salad recipe, a smoothie, or a combination of fruit, nuts and seeds in a small bowl as a snack, a little dark chocolate sometimes

Just be in a defecit, cut out as much carbs as possible and ensure you can at least stay awake and focused during the day! If you can't even stay awake, you're doing it wrong. Good luck everyone!!

I had a bariatric sleeve surgery last May and currently down 180 lbs and still losing, basically everyone is put on the high protein diet but we also have to take multivitamin, iron, calcium and some are recommended B vitamin supplements. Also high protein diets are Extremely low in fiber which can lead to a whole slew of problems (I had diverticulitis and was hospitalized 8bdays because I was basically eating 0 to 5g of protein a day) so this is something people should definitely run by their dr/nutritionists before starting. But I Def recommend it. I do Metamucil daily and found other food items to get my fiber. My current favorite are the zero net carb tortillas taco, each tortilla is is only 25 calories and 7g of fiber.

Drinking mineral water instead of soda is a good way to get rid of those extra calories. Trader Joe's has a variety of mineral waters that my family enjoys. "Thorn" vitamins are the best on the market at the moment, in my opinion. They are relatively decently priced, and they don't contain fillers. I have noticed a significant difference with my mineral intake with theses vitamins; vitamin D, iodine, B-complex, and zinc. Thank you for another informative and entertaining video. 💪

I am not a nutrition expert, but losing 210 lbs in a year or an average of 4 lbs per week is not a healthy nor a sustainable way to diet. Considering an average person consume 2,000 calories per day to maintain his/her weight, and it takes 3,500 calories to lose one lbs. That's 14,000 calories deficit per week or 2,000/day. This is for someone thinking or wanting to lose that much weight that fast. Maybe it is achievable, but definitely not advisable.

I fat load and consume higher calories on the weekend for my 2 days holiday from the gym, creatine, d3, high quality small fish oil, multi vit, MCT and NAC, then on a gym day take a good quality pre workout and carnitine with a 50 gram protein 2g carb shake mid workout. Water consumption and salts are key, if I need it I have a magnesium powder, electrolyte tablets, Himalayan salt but a simple quick and easy way is to add a stock cube to 400ml's of water, this is also how you get rid of the keto flu, water and salts

I found that doing 30-45 mins of cardio whether it’s walking on the thread mill uphill, or running 2 mins walking 1 then repeat on some days and mixing that with 15 mins all out on the stationary bike has been working well for me. I’m still fat lol but I started at 312 pounds at the about 3 weeks ago. I’m currently staying at 281. I also follow this up with high reps weights and supersets I switch it up from time to time but. This time around it has really been working for me. I don’t feel dead and drained the only thing I changed in my diet was cutting off sugar. The problem with us fat people is portions I still have a snack from time to time but instead of eating a whole bag of chips I’ll eat a serving size instead of eating half a box of my favorite cookies I’ll eat 3 which is the serving size 😂 I found it’s really been working. I’ve always started and few months in especially after seeing result I burn out! You cannot out work a bad diet! For us big guys trust me lol I used to do crazy amounts of cardio and end up always burning out you lose a lot of weight but it is not sustainable. I currently eating pretty normal some eggs in the morning a protein shake for lunch and I found eating a big meal packed with protein for dinner has been working for me this time around. There’s some days that I will fast from dinner to lunch the next day. A lot of us big dudes just love to eat when we are bored that’s where my discipline has started to built controlling that urge to wanna snack especially if your a cannabis smoker lol. To the big guys out there looking to start PLEASE try! The hardest part is getting to the gym you can start with just a 30 mins walk if that’s what it takes I’m rooting for all my big people trying to make the change!!! It’s worth it and remember it’s a lifestyle change it’s not going to happen overnight give up the sugar for 1 week that alone was making a difference for me!

I wondered what my diet was called. I’m doing PSMF right now as I’m recovering from a meniscus surgery and basically can’t do any cardio yet, and minimal lifts. Diet is basically lean protein and broccoli, spinach, lettuce, or asparagus.

I have rheumatoid arthritis & rheumatoid vasculitis, so I have to try to keep my weight down through diet. I’m not very adventurous with food though because I’m autistic.
