This is a recipe for how to make a gravy using just water in 4 minutes flat. The secret is to use both chicken AND beef stock cubes for the best flavour and a nice deep brown colour. It tastes just like KFC! No pan drippings required.

I made this yesterday and it is awesome, my grandkids loved it as well. All I changed was that I fried off the flour until it just started to tan up a bit to make sure that the flour is cooked off. Other than that, excellent and ity has joined my very select list of recipes. Thak you so much for putting this up for us.

YOU are a star !! I was disappointed as I had run out of chicken gravy but then found your recipe. Wow I tried it and it was beyond my expectations better than just the one I use!! I used Knorr stock pots instead but was very pleased THANK YOU. Highly recommend

very very good I never thought of adding a beef stock cube I did use 2 chicken stock cubes but really good when I don't have meat drippings I am tempted to use some curry powder as well to see if it tastes like a curry sauce

I have heard from former employees of KFC and they have said they add the left over crumbles from the breaded chicken into the gravy for the extra special flavor this gravy has, then strain them out after cooking. Just posting for those that have some KFC chicken available when they make the gravy and might want to try taking a few pieces off the breading and giving it a try. 😁

The cubes do they have to be oxo or we can use any other brand cause I dont know if we have beef or chicken oxo where I live

If you’re gonna make this you have to use the oxo chicken and beef stock not just any stock or else it won’t taste like kfc gravy

Ingredients ▢ 1 chicken stock cube / bouillon cube (sub 2 tsp powder) (Note 1) ▢ 1 beef stock cube / bouillon cube (sub 2 tsp powder) (Note 1) ▢ 2 1/4 cups (565ml) boiling water ▢ 60g/ 4 tbsp butter , unsalted ▢ 4 tbsp flour , plain / all purpose ▢ 1/2 tsp onion powder (ok to omit or sub garlic powder) ▢ 1/4 tsp finely ground black pepper ▢ Salt , if needed Instructions Crumble cubes into boiling water, mix to dissolve. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add flour, onion powder and pepper. Mix into butter with a wooden spoon or whisk. While stirring, slowly pour in half the liquid. Once incorporated into the flour butter roux (it will thicken quickly), add remaining liquid and mix. Stir for 1.5 - 2 minutes until it thickens to a gravy consistency (it's quick as water is already hot). Taste, add more salt and pepper if needed. Serve over chops, steak, sausages, veggies, roast chicken, pork, beef, lamb.

Amazing gravy, but not quite KFC to me, will be making this often when we need gravy but something is missing to put it over the top with that KFC flavor, does anyone know what that is, I know someone who makes a damn good copy of the KFC batter for the chicken tenders, i mean it tastes identical and with how much KFC charges i have no problem making then at home. Haha thanks for this recipe though it's great

Stay away from the "GRAVY- TASTE LIKE KFC" video. I made it and it taste like something I did in the toilet. Did she just copy the same recipes that are running rampant though KZbin and pawn it off as her own or did she really take the time to cook and taste this gravy? I personally would like to see her cook the gravy and taste it directly from the pot using a large tablespoon. I will give her a second chance and cook another recipe to see if the first was a fluke. Wish me luck and say a prayer for me and my families taste buds. We are all nonsmokers and have very sensitive taste.

I made it, and it came out better than any gravy mix we have ever used. I don't know if your taste buds are broken or so much more advanced than what we mere mortals have, but I couldn't disagree more. I followed the recipe from her website before seeing the video, but I don't remember anything different between them. Or maybe you screwed up making it.
