People had been asking these questions for a while, so I thought I'd make a quick My Summer Car Tutorial that goes over the file editing process using MSC Editor. Time to do some delicious cheating. You can edit your save files to manipulate just about anything in the game. You can give yourself money, change the paint job of your car, pass inspection, check to see if a certain item isn't bolted down or installed correctly, and I also show the file locations you'll need to know, as well as how to import someone else's save file and how to change the images (such as the posters in the room or the flag in the garage) in the game.

ABOUT: MY SUMMER CAR:
MY SUMMER CAR is the ultimate car owning, building, fixing, tuning, maintenance AND permadeath life survival simulator. You start the game with hundreds of loose parts and assemble both car and engine. Not only you need to maintain your car, but yourself as well. Sausages, beer and sleeping will do just fine.
If everything goes well, you have a working car which you can use for various 1990's Finnish countryside summer activities. Basically doing stupid things under influence of alcohol. After you have gathered extra money from various random jobs, you can start to tune and upgrade the car with parts ordered via snail mail. You can turn the car into a obnoxious bass-boom disco machine.... or into a rally car to participate rally competitions... or just fix it into perfect factory condition. Of course car also needs to pass the inspection or you might get into trouble with police.
Not only you have access to one car, but also several other cars and vehicles which you can use. (Mostly useful to get groceries and for towing the project car from some ditch, again).
Warning, this game is not for fainted heart. Severe car fever is required to play this properly due to it's autistic approach on car building.

A tutorial on Unity Assets Explorer would probably be helpful to many people as that is the only way to install mods currently. I'm currently running with "cleaner windows" and a custom engine texture swap. The wiki lists step by step instructions as well as a few pre-made mods.

Thank you gray for uploading this, I really did not want to restart my game. I was driving in the septic truck when it suddenly ran out of fuel, fuel cap was on, and it said it had fuel, thought it wouldn't go anymore, so there I was.. stuck in the middle of no where.. in the woods of the howling dogs and wolves.

hey is there a way to bolt everything? Lets say I drove my vehicle for the first time after building everything, but then suffered and unfortunate accident and had to restart from the beginning in a new save file. can you utilize more than 1 tow rope at a time to make a crazy road train to cause chaos on the highways? ie hitch the van to back of tanker the muscle car to back of van then the summer car to back of that and maybe swing by loppe to hitch up one of the wrecks to back too

Just in case anyone has trouble finding files, (I still don't know how to show hidden folders), you can type any sub-folder destination in the main folder. Ex. Users/Gray/AppData and it will take you to that folder within the others.

Msceditor is a great app. You can use Unity Asset Explorer to Edit Textures, Meshes, Materials and much more. I used it to GT up my Satsuma. I mean i edited interior textures and the interior is beautiful.

I can't even use MSCeditor it works for teleport but not for satsuma report. It says it can't access data.txt file which is inside the same folder as the executable file and the readme file. And every time i run the program it wants to extract files again and again. Which is probably why it is not working correctly. HELP!

I changed the exhaust muffler and forgot to remove the old one in the editor. So when I unbolted the old muffler manually in the game the whole satsuma glitched and flew trough the wall of the speed of light and disappeared only leaving me the bootlid and drivers seat in the garage XDD.

how the hell to I teleport the player? I tried to edit the player location to the satsuma in the middle of nowhere manually and the "Teleport Object" option, but when I save and launch the game, I spawn at the backyard of the player's house.

MCeditor1.02 has a built in search filter. As well as "Satsuma Report" (details in the change log from the link you posted). You should update dude.

how to get to your stock save file location. Windows Key + R Type &appdata& and click enter you will open up in roaming but you need to click on AppData Go to locallow then amistech then my summer car your files are there

There's an easier way to get to your image folder in MSC on steam. 1. Load up steam 2. Click MSc but don't load it up. 3. Right click on msc from the side bar where it shows your other games 4. Click Properties a new steam tab should load up. 5. Go to the new steam tab and click on the "Local files" Tab on it 6. Then select the local files again on the bottom part of the new steam tab. 7. A file folder of msc is stuff should pop up with files called like Images. Radio. My summer car (Wich is not a file it's just another way for you to load the game) This may seek like a bunch to do other than doing %App data%Mysummercar/images (Or how ever that goes)

Using this program is there a way to completely turn off thirst, fatigue, hunger, dirtiness? Does putting a negative number work? Only reason I hate this game is the fact I always need to wash and work at night.

You don't need to backup the meshsave file, you can simply delete it, the game will generate a fresh new one when you reload the game, I've never had an issue with doing that.

I simply set mine to read only. Any damage is instantly fixed upon load due to me not allowing the game to ever update the file.

I have written a little .bat file at the game directory. It deletes the mesh file and then starts up the game. I've even changed the game's shortcut to open the bat file instead and made it so that it still uses the game's icon.
