If you're going to replace one...might as well do the other! Our all-aluminum water pump won't develop impeller cracks like the stock plastic one.
Available here: bulletproofdiesel.com/collect...
Installing a 7.3L fan clutch onto a 6.L Power Stroke is a snap with our BulletProof adapter!

If you guys do these upgrades, please pull out your stock radiator at the same time. I dropped a Mishimoto all aluminum radiator in and it made a world of difference. I also vented my hood at the same time and can tow heavy uphill in the summer now. I put water meth on and it keeps my EGT'S much lower...

Will the 7.3 fan clutch come on in stop and go traffic. And what actually actuats the 7.3 fan clutch? I have heard stories like the on up above where it didn't come on when they needed it to?!?
@BulletProofDiesel
@BulletProofDiesel 5 жыл бұрын
It's a mechanical actuator rather than electronic. The 7.3L-style fan clutch does come on more quickly and stay on longer than the 6.0L/electronic version. We have found it to work well, even in traffic.

Does thick cause an engine code or check engine light since the pcm monitors the fan clutch?
@BulletProofDiesel
@BulletProofDiesel 3 жыл бұрын
It does not cause the check engine light to illuminate. When the factory fan clutch is unplugged and this setup is installed, there will be two soft codes stored, one for fan speed and one for fan circuit. These soft codes will not cause the check engine light to set.

That's all fine and dandy, but what do you do about the check engine light? When it comes on cause it's not getting feedback from The original. Computer control fan clutch, That fan clutch gives you a feedback reading and it'll turn the check engine line on, if you try to eliminate it. So if you have a trick for that, that'd be awesome

6.0 Fan clutch are also prone to failure due to its Electronic design and also make the Engine run much hotter. The 7.3 fan clutch engages more often and more completely to keep it cooler. The 6.0 electronic fan clutch has a connector that has been know to be cut by the fan itself and will overheat.

If installed correctly, 6.0 fan clutches can be very reliable. Also, a 6.0 fan clutch is controlled by the pcm, and with good custom tunes, can cool more precisely.

BulletProofDiesel I primarily meant the clutch the pump I get. Back to the fan, isn’t the fan computer controlled on a 6.0 ? Why wouldn’t the controls be adapted to accommodate the same end result.
@BulletProofDiesel
@BulletProofDiesel 4 жыл бұрын
@@user-vd9fz5ey9m The conversion to the '97 style fan clutch means the fans are mechanically controlled rather than electric. Again, in use, it comes on quicker and stays on for longer than the 6.0L electrical fan clutch. The water pump is aluminum, it doesn't have the plastic impeller that has caused so many EGR cooler failures.

BulletProofDiesel ok lets try this one more time. I completely understand the benefits of the pump upgrade. My question pertaining to the clutch is this. Why can’t the electric fan programming be changed to accomplish the same results as the 97 fan clutch. The existing fan is told when to turn on and off by the computer. Why can’t those commands be changed?
@BulletProofDiesel
@BulletProofDiesel 4 жыл бұрын
@@user-vd9fz5ey9m While custom aftermarket tuning to modify fan clutch strategy may be possible, it's extremely complicated and not a perfect science. Many years ago, we experimented with SCT and custom tuning - it didn't turn out to be a viable solution. The next simplest upgrade was the '97-style fan clutch adaption.

Don't waste your money doing the "7.3 clutch conversion" Thought this would be the cat's meow for taking care of my high temps, Have had it on my truck for about 50,000 miles, stupid fan is on til normal temps are reached 180-190 degrees, does NOT come on when you really need it (over 210)! When you have a plow on the front or towing. Taking that crap off & putting 6.0 PCM controlled fan back on & doing the blue wire mod!
