It's really okay to just try to take somebody shotgun away and beat them on the head. It's not an assault. Bulshit he hit Travis first then he tried to take the shotgun. If he had stood there and waited he would be alive in jail for violating his probation for trespassing. He was already on probation for gun crimes. Ahmad was a convicted felon

@@truthhurts837Really? So, you're basically saying that if somebody believes its wrong to hunt down, and viciously kill another HUMAN BEING in cold blood, that means they hate people with lower levels of melanin in their skin? I want to feel bad for you because you cut yourself off from a beautiful world that God has given us. But, when you carry that attitude in your heart it fills you with anger, hatred, resentment and self pity - not unlike the cops in this story. I have actually read the entire Bible a few times now and NOT ONCE did Jesus, or anybody else for that matter, qualify his/their definition of love with a caviat for melanin levels. Not even once. I made a comment when Ahmaud Arbery was first shot, that this case was going to do a big clean up. They went there with an intent to meet Ahmaud and before you know it he's shot. There was no discussion, no negotiation, no questions....just shot in cold blood. My heart feels for his family. Thank God Ahmaud left quickly and didn't suffer. I hope the prosecutors throw the book at the Mcmichaels. You'd think in 2020 we'd see the evolution and advancement of the human race. But it's a sad fact that people believe they can do what they want. Karma is a bitch but well worth it.

When you say there was no attempt at negotiation it's just not accurate. You only saw a 32-second clip but that pursuit actually lasted for several minutes and several blocks and Arbery refused to stop. So it is Aubrey who actually escalated the situation by not submitting to a lawful citizen's arrest.

Sloppy oversight says it all. The police culture in that county is obviously way off from what it should be.If it's shaky at the top that will filter down. The street level officer then let people like the McMichaels think that "good ole boys" tactics are ok and then BAM you have a big controversy that can't be covered up. That's what apparently happened here. The trial will reveal so much crap that that agency will draw a DOJ inquiry which will call for a teardown and rebuild of the entire policing operations. That's life, that's why we have standards. The McMichaels need to be made an example of what we expect and what's good for the nation...

I just moved from Washington. To label it a "good ol' boy state" is hilarious. Typically the only people who say that have only lived in WA and by default always respond with victimhood. That is a hilarious comment. Its only a cover up, if the DA after viewing the video didn't see someone attempting to disarm another. If that is what he or she saw, then its not a cover up. It was decided as reasonable self defense. He or she may be wrong, but the video provides reasonable evidence of self defense, unless additional evidence is provided.. I agree at this point a trial is the smart solution. But its not like the video showed someone gunned down running down the road. Take your emotion and motives out of the filter you look through. Until evidence is produced showing the DA ignored additional evidence proving intent to kill, which nothing does at this point. Stop assuming the world is as ugly as you hope.

@@anonymouslee8287 Well anonymous commenter, charged hardly means convicted. And i would bet he is found guilty of no crime unless additional evidence comes to light. How many people have recorded shootings. Has a single one been convicted, or expected to intervene? I expect and would show apathy to family and friends not being able to accept reality over the loss of a loved one, but all these people ignoring the facts just shows the ulterior motives you hold to invest yourselves in the world being as ugly as you view it. You aren't passionate for Arbery, you are passionate to support your belief in ugly reasons every tragedy must be based on.

After 25+yrs in law enforcement, my agency kept a complete record of all of my required training. After retirement I let my Armed Guard license lapse. Guess what I contacted my Academy and I was sent a printout of 25+yrs of my training. Forwarded the information to the licensing agency of NYS and I received my updated license. My agency has 10k+ staff. So how can a large agency keep accurate records and insure that staff receives the required training but a small Department like Glynn County PD cannot. Either there's corruption, lack of oversight or just the good ol boy system. Side bar DA Jackie Johnson should be disbarred and probably jailed for how she handled Lt.Sasser's case, Ahmaud Arbery's case and probably many more.

HUBABUBA3167: The reality is, neither of the McMicheals were certified police officers at the time they were chasing Arbury down----they had no right or authority or standing to make any kind of arrest. In fact, that law has been taken off the books since then, and because it was an outdated racist slavery-era law written to detain mainly black people. They also never claimed they were making a citizen's arrest when the police first talked to them after they shot Arbury. They only started mentioning during the trial. They can't use that as an excuse any more because that law no longer exists in Georgia. Funny how you just keep wanting to ignore the fact that they murdered an innocent man simply because he was black---how inconvenient for you that must be.
@HUBABUBA-il8fn
@HUBABUBA-il8fn 2 жыл бұрын
@@alondathomas293 I guess you really are clueless. First it goes by what the law was at the time of the incident. Just because a law gets changed after the fact does not make it retroactive. That would actually be against the US Constitution. Just because the law was passed in the time of slavery and was used to apprehend slaves does not make it "racist" or non applicable today. Almost every State has citizen arrest statutes, whereby a citizen can arrest someone. I believe there is only one that doesn't. The GA statute did need to be rewritten, but only for clarity, as there are some aspects which can be confusing as far as interpretation, which even the Judge in this case just got wrong. Unfortunately many states have many statutes which are poorly written, and hard to decipher even for people who do it regularly.

@@HUBABUBA-il8fn: Clueless about what? You're talking semantics here. The fact is, the McMichaels didn't tell the police anything about doing a citizen's arrest, so they can't use that as an excuse for going after him after the fact. That's all I said---it's not even that damn complicated. They still murdered an innocent man over their stupid racist bullshit assumptions that he had to be a thief. That's the main damn issue here.
@HUBABUBA-il8fn
@HUBABUBA-il8fn 2 жыл бұрын
@@alondathomas293 First your statement was that they can no longer use that (citizens arrest) as it is no longer the law in GA, "They can't use that as an excuse any more because that law no longer exists in Georgia." Well again it goes by what the law was at the time. Next you state that they had no authority as they weren't certified police officers, well what do you think "citizen" means in a citizens arrest. Next you go after the law because it was written during a time of slavery. The vast majority of states, I believe only one has none, have a citizens arrest statute and many have similar provisions and have been written or modified long after slavery. The only real problem with the GA statute is that it was poorly worded which leads to it being misinterpreted as apparently even the Judge in this case is doing. Now you keep believing the propaganda narrative that Arbery was doing nothing wrong. He was INSIDE SOMEONE ELSE'S HOUSE, on SOMEONE ELSE'S Property. He was in/on there at least 4 times including at night. Sorry, but that is NOT doing "nothing wrong". If he entered that HOUSE with the intent to steal it is a Burglary in the First Degree, whether or not anything was stolen. The prior incident where Travis MM saw Arbery in the house, at night, it could very well be inferred that he was committing a Burglary based upon Arbery's actions when he realized he was being watched. Now comes the actual shooting. Was Travis reasonable in shooting Arbery when Arbery Attacked him. Had one of the MMs shot Arbery as they were chasing him, then there would be no justification defense and I would agree that it would constitute murder. However at the time of the shooting, the MM's Truck was stopped in the roadway, Arbery was over 100 feet away, not being chased, and Arbery ran right up to the truck, down the opposite side and around the front, right at Travis, grappling for the gun. That very well could make Arbery the aggressor and give Travis the right to self defense. Now under GA statutes the MM's were legal in the open carrying of their firearms.
