Great Glen Way #1 - An 80% Chance

Setting out on the Great Glen Way from Fort William, Sundance and I experience just about every weather condition imaginable. As we trek along the Caladonian Canal I am amazed by the engineering marvel build hundreds of years ago, and still is being used today. By evening we make our first camp, meet the locals, and behold some magic in the sky.

If you look real close the Scottish midgies have blue painted faces! I hope someday that you get to experience Iceland and the weather it has to offer - like God messing with the remote control up there! Yeah, Scotland has the Thistle, Ireland the Shamrock, England the Rose and Wales the Leek.

That blaze symbol is a stylized thistle. All Scottish national trails have them, so you'll be seeing it on the West Highland Way, too (just without the pretty blue). Enjoy the Great Glen Way - possibly the best waymarked trail anywhere in the UK. :) Oh, and the story behind the stranded boat is not that exciting: it was a nearly decommissioned fishing vessel which got ripped off it's moorings in a storm and got dragged over to that beach. Owners never bothered to tow it back, so now it's a landmark on the trail.

They were pretty crazy at some points, not so bad at others.

@@sundance7724 mosquitoes are easier to kill and swat I think. What makes some areas have more? Is it dependent on rain like the skeeters? Also, is it humid there when the sun decides to come out? It looks so nice everywhere you're walking!
