Jordan was 29, Barkley was29, Robinson 27, Ewing was 29, pippen was 27, Malone was 28, Drexeler was 30, Stockton was 30, magic was 33, bird was 35, and laettner was 23. Kobe was 33, bron was 27, chandler was 29, durant was 23, Westbrook was 23, Williams was 28, iggy was 28 , love 23, harden was 22, Paul was 27, Davis was 19, and Anthony was 28. Most of that 92 dream team was just hitting their prime and they would have dominated that 2012 team.

I'll stay old school and say 92 team, the 92 PG was better, the 92 Shooting Guard was better, the 92 center was better and we can argue about the forwards. And if it was serious we kick out Laetnner and bring Shaq ;)

taking out stock/laettner from 92 and harden/ad from 12 because they played by far the least minutes, the beauty of the dream team was their balance, best starters would be pippen/jordan/mullin/barkley/robinson so the bench would be magic/drexler/bird/malone/ewing, with 12 starters would be cp/kobe/kd/lebron/chandler with a bench of deron/russ/iggy/melo/love, know this is not hockey but the dream team had two lines without much of a drop off, the 12 team was more top heavy with more of a drop off going to their bench

I'm an "old head" but man that 2012 team was crazy as well. Thinking about those matchups is just crazy tho. I think if Bird was prime and healthy it would FOR SURE be the Dream Team... but I think it's a toss up. PG position I gotta give to Magic, SG gotta go Jordan... SF gotta take Bron... PF would be Malone or Barkley vs Love or KD? Feel like that's gotta go to the Dream Team but KD is the greatest superteam player ever. Haha. I think the center position surely goes to the Dream Team... I think the 2012 team is scary bc of their depth and the prime of their team in general. There's still DWade and Melo and Russ and Williams... I feel they're just more athletic. Wish we could somehow watch it. Jordan vs. Kobe and Pip vs. Bron and even Jordan vs Bron and Kobe vs Pip... It would be amazing

2012 has the edge on talent in general but who really has the edge on Smarts and the Mentality and its not even close. Remember that everyone in the NBA is talented but not everyone is super smart and has that mentality but when it comes to wish ethic as far as we know Kobe is the only exceptional player and the rest of the 2012 just followed but on the Dream Team is was virtually the whole team. You may have the biggest single game lead but you know who has the largest average lead in olympic basketball history...

@zfk1000 2 жыл бұрын
@@tajonmitchel1712 I don't think stats alone can capture what separates Stockton because CP3 played his entire career in a league that gave point guards space to operate. Stockton played his entire career in a league with much less space to operate, and it was much more defensively oriented.

The better margin of victory for the Dream Team is misleading, because by 2012, the world had a decade of catching up to the US players standards (inspired in fact BY the Dream Team). So the 2012 team player tougher competition, and of course, the Dream Team never faced the talent the 2012 team had. And the Dream Team lost to an all-star COLLEGE team. MJ was too busy compulsively gambling, playing cards and multiple rounds of golf every day to get ANY rest, and he shot the worst FG% on the team (the only one under .500 except Christian Laetnner, MJ's .451 barely edging out CL's .450). Although his 113 shots were 30 more than Barkley, Barkley averaged 3.1 more ppg and led the team in scoring. (3rd highest and below were on about half the shots Jordan took.) Jordan didn't even get to .700 from the line (.684), and he was .211 from three (on 19 attempts)-- the FIFA line is shorter, btw. Stockton played only four of the 8 games, and took only 8 shots in total (averaging 2.8 ppg and 2 assists). Comparing the teams, he would have been a non-factor. Magic had a knee injury that kept him out of two games in the tournament before the Olympics, so he was playing hurt. Larry's back was torturing him.

Here's the facts on Michael Jeffrey Jordan. He played more years without winning titles than winning titles. The real difference between Jordan in year four and Jordan in year ten was teammates. And what does teammates really mean? It takes special players to win titles with highly offensive minded players. Chamberlain proved that in the 60's and Jordan recertified it in the 80's. Jordan's teams in high school, college and pros were not guaranteed titles because he was on the team. He is an incredible player. But here is another thought. If Bryant hadn't refused to play in Charlotte, he too could have had Jordan like numbers. And coming out f high-school he likely could have accumulated at least 8,000 more total points. But would Charlotte be in the finals because of him alone? No. He would need the right players. Julius Erving, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Gary Payton Bernard King and Larry Bird know that dilemma. Great scorers do not make titles. The players can affect the game without dominant scoring are key players for titles. Scottie Pippen, Larry Bird, LeBron James, Magic Johnson and now Nicola Jokic have proven that scoring 30 points a game is not the sum of the game.
