I've met that tree. lovely fruit and a good bearing tree. Thanks for sharing, Jaboticaba is differently on the to plant list! Mahalo

Yes, easy growth, no pests other than birds, and easy to pick. Interesting look too. Fruit studding the main trucks is always a kick.

I have the same problem. Halfway through a project, I realized I should have recorded it! Great to see you're getting a decent harvest with your jaboticaba. Hopefully I get to have some again soon.The trees at Quarry Park are setting fruit now:)

Those trees at Quarry Lakes are special. I brought several batches of Jaboticaba seed into Fremont , CA and all failed in winter. The ones ranger Dave sourced are much hardier than the norm. Collect seeds! Aloha

That's exactly what I was looking for, an excellent way to use jabuticabas. Most people in Brazil will use a blender to extract the juice of jabuticabas, which I think is a misuse of the fruit because with a juicer you don't need to add water nor sugar. The consistency of the juice from the juicer also seems ideal to make an ice cream. Thanks for uploading this.

We freeze it in popsicle molds as pure juice. It is amazing.

Soooooo good! Love this fruit! Will definitely have to get some plants from you whenever we finally are able to get on island. Hope you are staying safe with all this virus craziness.

Please do! Once things open up we could really stand to get back the 40% of our economy sustained by visitors. Aloha

@@GreenGardenGuy1 we should be there in July, we just accepted an offer on our house in AZ and have an acre in Eden Roc Estates that we will need to clear and plant fruit trees. I have a feeling you'll be seeing us often lol Aloha Bill!

Just asked TJ why we didn’t plant these last time we were on island. We will definitely want to plant a few on our next trip.

There is no time like the present. Even the early fruiting types take a while to get going. They are really pretty trees so having them right around the house is desirable.

Bill, can we buy a three-year-old tree? From a nursery or someone like you? Or will we have to start with a grafted tree? Thanks Bill.
@GreenGardenGuy14 жыл бұрын
Actually, they grow a lot of Jaboticaba in HI but I have never seen a grafted tree. Most are from seed or cutting but still carry cultivar names. They are very true to type. I am over whelmed with Jaboticaba trees in the nursery. I have to store the seed in soil for my seed sales. After a while it all sprouts so I pot the trees for the nursery. Since people know the plants take a while to yield they are a slow sale for me. Probably have near 100 of them on the tables at the moment. I raised a big crop of exotic types for Joe Hewitt. I can't wait for some of those to fruit.

Will jabotacoba do well in Southern California? About How long do they need before fruiting. Good to see your doing well haven’t hung out with the GGG In a while. Cheers

Yup. I'm getting along. Currently we have no detected cases here. Just sitting around waiting for the world to get back to business. Jaboticaba trees are quite variable. Some tender some hardy, some fast to yield others are slow. Currently the type I grow is probably hardy in better areas of CA and take 7 years to fruit from seeds. Some take as long as 25!

Definitely the sort of fruit tree you can be friends with. They don't ask much, easy plant.

I had a bunch of the juice. I froze it and put it in shakes. I can't wait for my trees to start fruiting. I have a large leaf and small leaf variety
@GreenGardenGuy14 жыл бұрын
My friend Joe Hewitt imported about a dozen different varieties from Brazil. I grew the seedlings out for him and kept one of each for my orchard. I can't wait to see what comes of it all. One type is supposed to bear in 4 years. Another is near seedless.

No clue, I have changed nothing. I'm not exactly sure what you mean though. If I hit full screen, it fills the screen.
