Usually when manufactures say something is "maintenance free" it means they don't want to make and stock individual replacement parts for various reasons. They would rather sell you the whole assembly and the labor to install it.

Do you have a recommended rebuild interval for these?
@GreenHulkGarage8 ай бұрын
I would rebuild these between 250-300 hours on a stock ski. I would rebuild them much sooner than that on a modified supercharger that gets more abuse.
@boandjill8 ай бұрын
Thank you. What about time range? If the ski gets little use, would you recommend every 2-3 years? Or is this solely based on hours used? @@GreenHulkGarage
@GreenHulkGarage8 ай бұрын
I would not worry about it unless the ski gets neglected. If it doesn’t receive adequate oil changes and gets left to deteriorate then I would absolutely rebuild it sooner.

Yea I told the dealer to check that First dealer said there’s no way and they still couldn’t figure out any other issue. Blamed it on a bad temp sensor that they set off because not having it on the hose but still didn’t fix the problem. Second dealer said they took apart pressure tested it and it was fine, they said they water tested it and ran 8000 but I took it out right when I picked it up, nothing was resolved it still would cap out at 6700

This is nuts. The s/c is described as "maintenance free" check after 200 hours or two use depending on intensity of use. It was recommended to rebuild. Then the recommendation was get a new s/c. Lots of variables and increasing warnings and prices.

This applies to the 2022ish 300s and the new 325? Is there another supercharged ski you would say is more reliable long-term without needing a SC build? I am in the market. Thanks
@GreenHulkGarage8 ай бұрын
This only applies to 300 superchargers. Older superchargers from Sea-Doo require more frequent maintenance than a 300. The new 325 has totally different design and should not require any routine maintenance. The 325 uses a completely different clutch, bearing, and gear design than the 300 and older superchargers.

I have a 2004 seadoo GTX limited supercharged 185 horsepower. The ski has less than 100 hours on it and has been sitting for over 14 years in a garageI. have read in some places that the valves need to be replaced Mikasa possible failure. Does anybody have any input on that?
@GreenHulkGarage5 ай бұрын
The first thing you need to do is rebuild the supercharger. The plastic bearing cages get brittle with age and will fail. Check out our supercharger rebuilding service here in the GreenHulk Store. www.4-tecperformance.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=349_379_63&products_id=5170

06 and older skis are prone to exhaust valve failure, it’s best to replace them. The Supertech valves are what you want. They are lighter, stronger and cheaper than stock www.4-tecperformance.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=356_371_427&products_id=2114

They wouldn’t have replacement parts if the unit was not rebuildable. Seadoo would just sell 2k dollar superchargers if that was the case.

why does it look like a turbo
@petermieszczanski85914 ай бұрын
it is basically the intake side of a turbo, however turbos are driven by exhaust gasses, while superchargers are driven by the motor, either by gear or belt. On seadoos, the teeth contact the crankshaft gear. They do make some seadoo from factory with turbos though.
@petermieszczanski85914 ай бұрын
And the reason why, is because its easier to shove the supercharger in from the front of the engine, rather than having a top mounted supercharger which would be heavy, have heatsoak and would require a lot more area to remove and a entire engine redesign as they would not be able to side mount the supercharger.

If you know a thing or 2 about the cause your explanation would be more informative and less opinionated, the clutch slip is paramount if it has and excessive amount of slip heat is created and effects the hardening on the gear effecting the teeth hardness or chattering clutch shockloading the cartridge causing failures. every charger needs to be reset at the 10h breakin period and checked either every 50/100h depending on riding style, I have changed my maintenance procedures towards my customers ski's and haven't had any failures since 20min service for Piece of mind
@GreenHulkGarage8 ай бұрын
There is NOTHING opinionated in this video. I have rebuilt thousands of Sea-Doo superchargers (minimum of a dozen rebuilds a week…I’m sure you can do the math) and I have seen it all. Not a single failure has happened on my personal skis or a customer that I routinely take care of. Every failure I have my hands on is fixing damage that has already been done by someone who was not aware of the maintenance procedures. On my personal skis, I set the slip almost after every ride. Why? Because I am making far more boost than a stock supercharger and beat the hell out of it. The maintenance required and the frequency of setting the slip will vary depending on what’s been done to the ski and how it is ridden (which I made clear). Evidently, you didn’t listen to 90% of the video going over FACTUAL information of other failures, their causes, and my recommended procedures/interval to set the slip.
