Mrs. Miniver didn't have an affair. She loves Romway, who has been boarding with her, and wants to return his affection. She believes that theirs is merely a close companionship due to their mutual need for comfort. Jan Struther, who created the original Mrs M had no part in the M Story. She actually succeeded in suing MGM for disposing of her character. It's a shame this movie failed--I do think Greer and Walter are fantastic. But they should have left well enough alone.

Thank you so much for this. I only found out there was a sequel to Mrs Miniver recently.

It's on Turner Classic Movies, and one can request a showing--which might not happen--or even buy a copy from the TMC web site.

I know Mrs. Miniver is just a character in a film but this dude should get a serious beat down for having hit on her while her husband was away.

So what. Just kill the less important character off and be done with it, but don't leave a huge hole in the story on the account of real-life personal enmity between actors.

Why couldn't another actor have played Vin? The did not have to bring back Richard Ney, who was so handsome and superb as the oldest son.

So, let me get this straight, Mrs. Miniver has an affair with an American Army Officer? Why would the writers and producers do that to her character?

No. This film starts at the end of war, when everyone starts to go home. That's what this clip features -- the celebration and goodbyes.

An inferior and depressing sequel to a great movie. No wonder it is so poorly known. I must say the casting for the young Miniver children Toby and Judy was way off. Although the girl that played Judy originally would have been too young to reprise the role, they could have at least got an English girl/woman to play it. Presumably the boy who originally played Toby (Christopher Severn-a highlight of the original movie) could have been recast but wasn't. The thing that most bothered me was that there was no mention of Vin Miniver (the eldest of the Miniver children) or his wife Carol (the latter killed at the end of the first movie) in this film as if the characters had never existed. At the very least they could have done the decent thing and had Vin (a RAF pilot) killed off during the course of the war.
