No thumb studs is best. Nothing in the blade path should be the standard.

If you're afraid your knife is going to be confiscated, just buy one of my 200+ dollar knives. Wtf? Also, that thumb stud placement is way out there and will be a pain to deal with when it comes to sharpening and cutting.

I totally get where you're coming from, but I think I’m not the only one who worries about TSA rifling through a checked bag and pocketing a $800+ knife. Having a less expensive knife that's easier to replace if the worst case scenario happens definitely brings some peace of mind. - Paul

Yeah. I take the thumbs off if they get in the way. I would rather open a knife with two hands and ditch the thumb studs. I removed my Cold Steel SR1 thumb studs. ITS WAY BETTER NOW!

I guess Greg Medford's idea of "budget" is a bit different than most Americans. Still too costly for a single thumbstud, 1095, and g10. There are other brands with cheaper knives made 100% in the US with better materials. Pro-Tech just to name one has excellent craftsmanship with super steels for around $200 or a little more

Still to expensive he acts as if his knives are the best out there I’ve seen other knives that’s are better made quality with the best hardware for 80
